i cant seem to get to sleep at night. a while back i went to see my doctor he gave me Ambien. it worked really well. after my prescription ran out i couldn't sleep again. after about a month i tried different things for a while like Tylenol pm and NyQuil. the Tylenol and NyQuil went on for a few months till they stopped working so i stopped for a the summer(now senior in high school) when school started nearing i wanted to get on a more regular schedule so i moved on to smoking weed. and now i cant get it. i bought Ambien again from someone i know. and im about to run out of that. i've tried all of the things online like melatonin(seemed to kind of work for the first night) and Alteril(didn't work at all.)
i've been looking for some kind of natural sleep aid. ambien seems to give me fuzzy thoughts for the next day and sometimes headaches after a few days of not taking it (i think its unrelated... but i dont know). any somewhat cheap suggestions? i saw Phenibut but there are mixed reviews. dont know what to think of it

u try unisom? its otc so u can get it anywhere, though, i found it doesn't work for everyone, but its worth a try.

As mentioned you could try unisom or restavit (doxylamine), or unisom gel tabs (diphenhydramine), or phenergan (promethazine) but none of these are really viable long term options. They'll all only work for a few days at a time and will probably give side effects like next-day-drowsiness, dry & itchy throat, sinuses etc as they're all also antihistamines (if i recall correctly?).

Benzos & hypnotics are better but also require prescriptions and have worse long-term side effects and addiction potential.

OP has already tried both diphenhydramine (Tylenol PM) and doxylamine (Nyquil). There really aren't any OTC drugs that work besides the ones you've tried. Valerian root is a possibility but it usually doesn't help for chronic insomnia. Phenibut works great for me, but unfortunately you can only use it 1-2 times a week max or else tolerance ramps up FAST. You're only safe bet is exercise (bet you didn't want to hear that).

As an aside, why do so many people use Tylenol PM to help them sleep? I find that most of the time people use Tylenol PM, they aren't using it to treat pain, just for the sedative effect of diphenhydramine. So why not just take Benadryl or Unisom (i.e., severely marked up Benadryl)? You should not be taking acetaminophen every night, especially if you don't need any pain relief. Tylenol PM is such a useless product...unfortunately most people don't know any better and think it's some sort of novel sleep aid.

Injecting unisom

I know call me crazy but yes I inject unisom gel caps and was wondering if anyone knows how to make this substance thin because it is very thick. I mix it with water and draw it up. I know its bad for my veins but I get really desperate for a little rush....would lemon juice help....I've seen it mentioned several times....

Holy shit, please stop doing that. This is a harm-reduction site. Nobody is going to give you advice on shooting unisom gel caps. It's not only bad for your veins, it's bad for just about every part of your body. You would be doing yourself a favor scoring some heroin instead.

Would you try taking a natural sleep aide? It's been working really well for me. My boyfriend brought to light the natural remedy for me, I've been taking about 15mg every night. It helps and no nasty side effects in the morning. It's called, Melatonin. It's not a high priced supplement , I got a two pack deal 480 tablets for six bucks at walmart.
If nothing else works for you give it a try, if it doesn't help it at least won't hurt you.

He already tried that, as he mentioned in his first post.

Also, 15mg of melatonin is far, far too much. It actually becomes LESS effective over 3 mg.

The number one cause of insomnia is sleeping medication.

You can disturb your sleep patterns after using anything to help you fall asleep for even two days in a row.

The longer you use medicines to knock yourself out, the deeper the hole you're digging for yourself.

If you really want to get healthy sleep, exercise your body and mind enough so that you're tired by the end of the day, avoid stimulating things before going to bet (exciting as well as drugs), and make your bed a sleep-only area.

5-HTP

Masturbation right before bed.

Eat enough. Turkey?

Meditate; slow the mind down, if that keeps you up.

meditation works great for me. i have pretty bad insomnia and i'll take unisom a few times a week. but i find to try and fall asleep naturally the best thing for me is to get into some sort of routine, and then just lie there and take big deep breaths and just focus on breathing in and out. it can be a bit annoying but after doing it a few nights in a row when you're starting to get a bit tired, it works very well.

- Stop drinking caffeinated drinks
- Stop smoking (tobacco is a stimulant)
- Have regular sleep patterns, go to bed earlier if needed
- Make sure your bedroom is favorable to sleep (no noise or light)
- Make sure to have a comfortable matress
- Work on the issues that create stress in your life

And if all the above fail, try add Melatonin

I hope you mean all of the above *in this thread.* What you listed is not a complete list of things to try before you start supplementing.

Though these are very good suggestions.

try asking that question in the ither drugs forum or darkside

just bought a box of restavit (doxylamine succinate) from my pharmacist to try (recomended). will be seeing how they go. saw they were recomended above so i'll be happy if they work :)

also, wrong section but anybody know if they'd be a decent enough sleep aid to take after ecstasy use to get to sleep?

Just what I was gonna say. I take 2.5mg every night. Good stuff. Also, if I wake up in the middle of the night to pee or something, I can go back to sleep pretty easily (I've always had a problem with that). Our brains produce melatonin so it's not like we're putting some random chemical into our bodies.
