Hello.
I have been addicted to 15mg percocet or 12 mg hydromorphone only at night but for over a year. Not a huge amount but still is hard. Ive been clean, day six as of today so im proud of that. Just looking for info on how long the restless leg pain stays for and if it common to have it in your arms as well. So hard to deal with if anyone has timeline that be great or support thanks

It should end quite soon. I found that naproxen sodium or aleve works the best for this as far as things you can get at the store without prescription. You should absolutely be proud of yourself, remain strong and be patient. Never get down on yourself or wallow in self pity or build it up to be more than it is. You are doing an amazing thing getting out before it consumes your every thought or starts becoming your first priority in life. It just gets more miserable from here and that's not to say that it's easy, once you start acquiring physical withdrawals it is so hard not to give in. Make sure to be active and find fulfilling things to fill that void, learn, create, enjoy things in life. It will take awhile to start enjoying things like you used to before you became addicted but the longer you are away from it and the more things you immerse yourself in that stimulate you the more you are encouraging neuroplasticity which is basically the brains ability to rewire itself and change your priorities and behavioral tendencies which are jaded by drug addiction.

The longer an addict uses, the higher their tolerance grows and the more downregulated their receptors become, the chances of it becoming a life long struggle increase. I do believe that there is a point where a person could end up having a life long struggle with opioid addiction but that point requires many years of abuse of the drugs and abuse of oneself and others. You can absolutely overcome this.

You are doing so good! You're past the worse of it. The restless legs should start passing soon, just take hot showers or baths before bed and it will help. Also, get a heat blanket and wrap it around your legs at night. That helped me too. Opioid withdrawals usually last around 7 to 10 days. Keep your mind busy and try going for a walk or light work out. Good job on 6 days clean! I have been trying to get clean and I would relapse after about a week. I am going to try to detox again here within the next 2 days. I am not looking forward to it.

Thanks for all the kind words. I havr rls during day too and worzllse at night plus my arms at night is terrible. Did anyone have the arm pains too?

^ My sister gets terrible restless "leg" syndrome in her arms when she goes through opiate withdrawal. She has not reported on anything that helps lessen it, sorry to say.
she does have a good sense of humor, so she calls it "boxing with the angels" to help herself make it through the night.

And for those who do not know me here, I am really referring to my sister, who lives in another state, it is not a version of SWIM.

What helps ALOT with restless legs and over all body anxiety is gabapentin (neurontin) - Also, valium or any low-dose benzos would help but be mindful that they're addictive too and I would suggest only taking it for a brief amount of time. Also; if you can not get gabapentin, you can order phenibut online for cheap which is very similar to gabapentin, it's suggested to not take phenibut daily for its habit forming. I am just putting this out there for the sake of Harm Reduction.
Gabapentin is your best bet for getting rid of RLS and can be easily prescribed from a doctor.

Plenty of magnesium and skeletal muscle relaxers if you can get them I prefer zanaflex over robaxin..Great job so far..

Remember every minute, every second that passes is taking you further from what caused it. Stay strong brother. Arm and leg pain will be gone in another four days. Have you got access to diazepam? That can help. Why'd ya wanna come off the meds anyway bro?

I get the arm ones too they were TERRIBLE because I learned to kick my legs enough to get a little sleep but there is nothing you can do with your arms. I wish I could tell you a time frame. One thing helped me that I hated hearing on here because its the last thing I wanted to hear when I felt like that but exercise helped me get those arms moving. Mine took forever to pass this last bout with morphine they will start easing up you are very close I would think.

Naslund: You asked about my sister and how long she has been clean - I honestly don't know, but we talked about her "jimmi arms" when she was getting clean around May or June last year.

Naslund: You asked about my sister and how long she has been clean - I honestly don't know, but we talked about her "jimmi arms" when she was getting clean around May or June last year. In late November I got a call from the State Prison system in Pennsylvania... yep, she is in state prison. I did pick up the phone on one of the calls and she had 10 seconds to talk and told me she hopes she gets out soon, that she had a hearing coming up. I don't know if she got popped for possession, dealing, or theft, but I would guess it was theft, sorry to say. Her addiction is much more advanced than mine and she had to supplement her prescribed meds with street drugs. I still use only my own prescription, so I can afford them. I hope to God she did not have to go thru withdrawals again when she went to prison. She did sound good on the phone. I appreciate you asking, as I miss her very much, and would visit if I lived closer. I need to contact the phone company and set up an account so that I can talk to her.

Just wondering if she has an extensive criminal history, or how serious the theft was...I'm curious about how other judicial systems treat various crimes...

Well perhaps you did need them for a while but don't anymore, which is good. Most opiate withdrawls do last 7 to 10 days, except for methadone which can last up to six weeks. Having said that you will feel mild discomfort but it will cease. Guess it depends what you priorities in life. If I had a girl I thought was worth marrying, I'd quit it too. But it kinda sounds to me like the usage wasn't really having any severe impact on your life...did you quit because of your GF? Does she disapprove of such behaviors?

She had just found out not long ago and i told her id quit. Im doing it for her and me

that's good of you. just make sure she doesn't try to control/change other aspects of your life. Because if she's that type of person, marriage isn't the best idea. Really.

No she never had a bad thing to say at all. Just had a bad past once too so wanted me to see clear like ahe once did

yeah sweet it's just I seen some chicks...it's the thin end of the wedge. Keep busy bro. Distraction is great. Go do some armed hold-ups or push an old lady in front of a bus. Works for me every time ;) Peace

Thanks again for all the words. Tomorrow will be day 9. I still have bad arms at night and legs but maybe in next couple days there be gone agreed. My gf said yes to marry me which is amazing and am so happy. Helps take my mind off pills. Im praying the syptoms, well the physical ones atleast will go away. And can start living a normal life. Any help or encourage would be great

Thanks. Hope all is well with everyone
