PDX....really fuck "Portlandia" that show takes ev
So for the past 6-7 years I have been having PID occurances 4 times. Each time I am tested for STDs and other ailments and they can't find anything (growths or what not) and since I have no health coverage I am unable to get a exploratory surgury. So, I have been self medicating with various opiods. From weak 3's to Methadone. It is getting to the point where not only do I need it for the pain I get with each period and sometimes throughout the month, I am starting to need them not to become sick. It is taking its toll on me mentally, on my family, boyfriend, and friends. I am just a junkie in their eyes, but when I have the bottel they all are my friends again.

What I want to know is how to go about getting some treatment for these issues. I don't know where to go and my habit is getting to where I am actually contemplateing buying some H to save money. I don't know if there are any treatment programs available for me seeing as how I do have health probs. I live in Portland OR. If there is anyone out there that can point me in the right direction please feel free to PM me: Hey hun, it's probably not a good idea to post your personal email address in the public forum - n3o

I am getting really depressed and can see that the people closest to me think of me only as a drug seeker and I brought all this on myself and are unwilling to help, "because I need to learn to stand on my own two feet" which is fucked cuz I never ask that part of my family for shit cuz I know I am just expendable and tolerable to them. I know many of you will say that is not true, but it is. I know where I stand with some of my family and they have never once stepped in to give me any support or concern, until it embarasses them. That is why I posted here. I hope to God someone reads this and doesn't think I am out for pity. I need some help or I am just going to say fuck it all and go downtown and do what I said I never would do.

Whats PID? Can you qualify for medicaid? Have you gone to a public health clinic to see what they suggest?

Pid

It is Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. Usually brought on my an infection either bacterial or by an STD. I have been tested for all STD's and came out clean. So they think I may have an imbalance of hormones or natural bacteria that causes infection and then quickly spreads to the uterus, ovaries, cervix, and bladder. And that is when it is diagnosed as PID, which is very very painful. And I have gotten it 4 times already.

I don't qualify for any State or Federal Health Care to get this checked out and laying off the pills is ok, but every month I am back to the same spot I was. Its driving me mad. And I don't want to let this go to a point where I end up getting something very serious and it will be too late to treat or become so addicted to the painkillers I go to the H. Cuz right now with out health insurance I am spending a lot of money on pills and the thought of going to H seems more practical and cheaper. But I really really don't want to go there.:(

Hmmm I wonder if opiate use is linked to the disease at all? First thing you have to do to get better is start laying off the pills man. You cant get anywhere if you keep abusing them.

I am sorry that you have had to deal with this. Many different organisms can cause PID. So even if your STD tests are negative there still could be a different bacterian hiding out in there. Do you have a regular sexual partner or multiple ones? You don't have to answer that on here obviously. Also having an IUD can increase the risk of infection. According to the CDC you should get treated with antibiotics.

As far as you not having insurance you can call your local planned parenthood office or most counties have medical assistance programs, you just have to know how to find them. I work for a major health care organization and might be able to get you connected with a program. I just need more information from you. Also, be advised that if you go to a hospital, they can't refuse you medical care no matter your ability to pay.

They only thing I ask is that you DO NOT go self medicating, especially with H. I was addicted for over 8 years and been sober for almost 5 years. You do not need to add that to all your other problems.

you have all my sympathy. i had endometriosis which eventually spread to my ovaries, bladder, and bowels. every time i had my period all that endometrial tissue would also bleed into my abdomen and cause wicked pain.
it's really hard to get help which is just so fucked up. "the powers that be" just expect you to deal w/ the pain as well as consequences down the road like possible infertility.
if you haven't yet, try going to your county health dept, be **very persistant** and hopefully they can get you some help. if there's a teaching hospital associated with a university medical school near where you live they may be able to help you.
i remember the pain i went through very well and even though i had insurance, i still got yanked around for 3-4 years before i finally got the surgery i needed to fix the problem.

keep trying, don't give up. you'll run into the right doc who can help you get through all the hospital crap so you can get the help you need.
best of luck to you
