Need help: Drilling through glass to create a bong

Its a big vaguely related to cannabis but I had no other place to put this lol

So I have a Sobe bottle I want to make into a waterfall bong but I need advice on drilling through the glass. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've searched a little and I know there are glass drill bits but is it required to go through glass?

(im not much of a carpenter lol)
 
you need a glass drill bit ideally yes.
you should submerge the bottle in water, put a piece of clear tape over it, and drill through using very light pressure.
 
I bought a glass drill bit for this specific reason, i was trying with old spirits bottles. Most of the shattered and i had alot of trouble holding the drill bit steady.

On this note are there many glass blowers who will take specific designs over the net and then post?
 
I actually did this when I was younger to a glass vase. Believe it or not I used a simple flathead screwdriver without the assistance of a machine or device. Yes it took a while and and a carbide tipped drill bit would've been nice but I didn't crack the glass. :)

do a google or yellowpages search for local glass blowers

i got this headshop that does custome work to blow me a tube for BHO extractions, if you pay enough they will make whatever u ask n i am sure for the right price they would put a hole in your bottle
 
ive done this before a good amount of times. take a screwdriver and a hammer or something to hit it with good solid force.

now, there is a small weakspot on the bottom ring of the sobe bottle, the weakspot is on the side of the bottle at the very bottom, you can very easily see it, its a little indentation that is thinner glass than the rest of the bottle. take the bottle and put it in your lap with a towel under it, now put the screwdriver on the glass and carefully start tapping the hammer on the back of the screwdriver. take care with doing this because it takes a minute or two to get feeling for it, you dont want to hit it too hard and if you hit it too soft itll never make a hole. kepp tapping until the screwdriver just starts to penetrate, then CAREFULLY tap until it goes all the way in and the hole is exactly the circular shape of the screwdriver shaft. if all goes well youll have a sobe bottle with a perfectly or close to perfectly circular tiny hole in the bottom. and im assuming you already know how to use the waterfall so i wont explain.
 
When I wanted to make a waterfall bong I simply used a 2L pepsi bottle, put a whole on the bottom (by hotting it), and put some kind of bowl on the cap. That did the trick well :)
 
in the interests of harm reduction, remember that you will be generating glass dust. not the sort of thing you want to inhale, or get in your eyes...
 
Fill up the bottle with water, but keep a tiny bit of air in it. Put the cap on the bottle, move the air to where you want your hole, and gently tap it with a nail. After a while you should be able to pop the nail through the glass without it breaking on you.
 
also if you tap accurately and firmly at one point on the bottle with a dart, you can make a hole though you need to be careful.
succesfully managed it many times in my doob puffin years though
