Hello everyone, I just created this account today.

I am here because I am scared my body is telling me something isnt right in my body.

I was prescribed Tramadol for a neck injury. This was my first time ever trying opiates even though Tramadol is more of a synthetic opiate from what I've read.
Anyways, I took the recommended dosage and didn't feel any relief so I decided to take more. Within a 24 hour period, I took about 300mg Tramadol (took 100mg before bed and 200mg upon waking up, spread out over about 2 hours) and about 1000mg Tylenol as I read that mixing the two will give more relief.
It started relieving the pain at first but about 4 hours later started feeling very nauseous. Moments after, I started breaking out in a heavy sweat, my pupils became pinpoints, very very small, I started shaking over my whole body, and I developed a very scary shortness of breath and a slowed heart rate. I decided to ride it out and eventually the symptoms subdued to an extent, I was still having shortness of breath. I woke up and felt normal however that night I suddenly had that shortness of breath again. My urination has been very inconsistent and feels like really pressured at times out of nowhere. This was last night but I woke up this morning feeling worse. I am starting to tremor in my hands as I am typing this, I am having chest pains as if I am bloated and my breathing is still very shortened. I was never addicted psychologically to Tramadol since the 300mg I took were the only mg I took besides the ones the ER gave me when I had my neck injury.

I am very scared that I may have caused some damage to my kidneys and they aren't removing waste properly. I also feel side pains randomly.
Are these symptoms from a possible withdrawal? Is the drug just trying to get out of my system still? Or did I cause damage to some internal organs? I have too many questions and no answers and I am scared this is progressively going to get worse. Just need to know if anyone has gone through something like this with this drug or any other opiates WHO WERE'NT PREVIOUSLY ADDICTED TO ANY DRUGS BEFORE. Please help and thank you.

honestly taking that much tylenol can fuck with your liver... a friend of mine committed suicide by eatting a bottle of tylenol and it took her a week to die and i have hep c and my doctor told me to never take it again cause its so hard on the liver... but your best bet is to go see a doctor asap if you really feel that something is wrong but more likely then not your pain will pass with no serious damage but you can never be to sure

Could be a sensitivity to acetaminophen since most tramadol brands have acetaminophen mixed in with them and taking more in the form of Tylenol could've done you in. But I see it passing with no problems you could've had a bad reaction to the tramadol itself or had a adverse reaction due to another medication your also taking. The thing is we can never know for sure we are not a replacement for a hospital everything we say is speculation. If you still don't feel right after some time has padsed then see a doctor ASAP. If you are having a bad reaction to tramadol then taking it again could put you at risk so be careful.

I'm going to close this now since we can't help with medical emergencies that's what the hospital is for.

Good luck and be careful try not to worry yourself sick or you may feel worse. Also make sure you know what's in your medication so your not taking too much of a substance such as acetaminophen (which is in a lot of medication by the way) Taking Tylenol with a medication that already contains the active ingredient (acetaminophen) is very hard on the liver.

Hi Jared,

First off I'm not a doctor so this is just based on experiences and things I've heard from others. Most pain medicines are buffered with other chemicals, Lortab has Acetaminophen, Vicodin has Ibuprofen etc.. Not sure what Tramadol is mixed with, but it's fairly weak in terms of pain relief and opiate content so it's made for light pain (IMO), almost a placebo. I think what happened is you OD'd on the buffer. You're certainly not suffering any sort of addiction or withdrawal. Its possible that your allergic to something in the Tramidol, but it's more likely you just took too much.

You should be able to just drink a lot of water and flush out that buffer. There might be better ways of doing this that I'm not aware of. What I'd do is call the doctor that prescribed the Tramidol and tell them its not working and you need something that works. Don't mention that you took a bunch of them though. Depending on the doctor they might refuse to give you anything stronger thinking you'll take a bunch of those as well. Years ago I broke 2 ribs doing Judo. Went to the ER and after X-raying me they gave me a shot and said they were giving me a script of the same medicine that was in the shot. The shot helped so I thought they were giving me something that would work. Well they gave me a tiny mg of medicine and no matter how many I took it didn't relieve any pain!

Hope this helps! Maybe someone else will reply who's experienced the same problem you are and will know more. ;)
