Hey everyone, Im new to this site as a member and this is my first post and I dont even know if this is the right section! So anyways SWIM used opiates for about 4-5 years with suboxone in between and swim just went to a detox and rehab for 45 days. swim got out and used like an IDIOT and has used for about three weeks now. Just wondering what kind of withdrawal swim will face after getting totally clean then using for three weeks. Will they be as bad as the detox after using for years? Will the w/d's be less since swim got clean for 45 days then just used for a few weeks?? Please help. Can use any info I can get!

First off, BL'ers don't use SWIM when referring to themselves. It doesn't offer you any legal protection anyway and it can make reading posts confusing. You're probably going to experience withdrawal, the severity of which is dictated by the dose and frequency of your use.

The short answer is that no one can tell you what to experience. Some people act almost unphased by opiate withdrawal and for others its a hellish experience. I know you're asking our advice, but deep down you probably know most of what to expect. There is a term called "Kindling" which I believe only technically applies to Ethanol and Benzodiazepine use, but probably has some bearing on opiate withdrawal as well.

Kindling is the phenomenon of the withdrawal syndrome becoming more severe with each subsequent withdrawal, especially when going Cold Turkey. In my own experience, I do feel that Withdrawing from opiates gets worse each time. Detox will not be pleasant, but probably not as bad as the first time. It's only been three weeks, but WD from heroin can be brought on by just 3 days of use in a opiate naive individual

Opiate withdrawal is very psychological. If you can stay mentally tough it will be much easier
