Trying to find out how different opiates show up on a drug screen. I always thought that the OPI result was for Dillaudid and Morphine, and the OXY result was for oxycodone and oxycontin. I took a drug test and it came up positive for OPI and OXY and I only take oxycodone and oxycontin. So I ran some tests...

I crushed up an oxycodone and added it to water and it tested positive for OPI and OXY.

I crushed up an oxycontin and added it to water and it tested positive for OPI and OXY.

From what I know, morphine and dillaudid show up as OPI on a drug test.

What my real question is, can the doctors office tell that someone was taking dillaudid or morphine along with oxycodone or oxycontin?

I always thought that if you were only on oxycodone the test would show negative for OPI. But my tests proved that wrong. I thought that if you were taking dillaudid or morphine it would show up seperate, but I guess not.

Can anybody explain how this works?

^ They all show up as opiates. Some tests will show concentrations, so do not load up for a couple of days prior. If you have a script for opiates, you are okay. It would take more expensive lab tests to differentiate which opiates you have in your system.

Oh... and drug testing questions are not allowed.

Typically, urine drug screens testing for opiates are designed to morphine, as it is a major metabolite of many opiates. The major metabolite of oxycodone is noroxycodone, which is tested for in a separate test. Morphine IS (contrary to popular belief) a metabolite of Oxycodone, albeit not a major one. Frequent and/or high dose consumption of Oxycodone may cause one to fail a urine drug screen for opiates. I learned this the hard way.

Here's a link on Erowid about it:

1) NO DRUG TESTING QUESTIONS
We do not allow threads asking how to beat a drug test, how drug tests work, what they can detect, etc. We do not allow threads asking how long a given drug stays in your system, because that information can easily be found here and elsewhere with a simple google search. Please see the archived subforum of drug testing questions and answers.
