Ok to make this short and sweet, I abused MDMA, experiencing the usual symptoms, depression, insomnia anxiety etc..

Now my question is, for the hippocampus repair of the extreme stress and neurotoxtic damage done should I go with an SSRI (20mg Lexapro), which I've been suggested not to do, due to downregulation , cognitive problems etc.. But I understand it induces neurogenesis in hippocampus and prefrontal cortex.

Or

I've head a great report of Neuroreplete , an amino acid complex under the supervision of a registered doctor affiliated with the program to boost my NTs and naturally let my brain/hippocampus rewire itself through positive thinking, and mood/motivation elevation through the replenished NTs?

I ask urgently because I'm currently about to make a 2 hour drive to meet with a naturopathic doctor and spend a few hundred dollars on this program..

Alternatively I've asked her about doing neuroreplete in conjunction with SSRI's and she said that can be done, best of both worlds in a sense but still possible negative effects (libidio, cognition etc) of the SSRI use.

What do you think? Any answer with reasonable knowledge behind it would be great, thanks guys!

Or should I use SSRIs as suggested by psychiatrist for 6 months then neuroreplete? I want to make the right decision and not comparise my future university return by veering down the wrong path..

cannabis promotes neurogenesis(forcing brain to self repair)
http://www.biosignaling.com/content/8/1/12
and cannabinoids in general
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/pmc1253627/

ketamine too, has been recently found to be synaptogenic(helping neurons to estabilish new synapses)

hypericum and hypericin will reverse the serotonin receptor downregulation
ssri may worsen the downregulation

physical exercise and an envrointment full of stimuli(exemple read a lot, try to learn something, get an hobby.. and so on) are neuroregeneration activities

is there anything other than hypericum that i can legally aquire that will help regenerate NT's haha? like OTC status, weed tends to give me anxiety

Don't take 5-HTP, it raises serotonin levels but in turn lowers dopamine in the process. All neurotransmitters affect levels of one another, if your going to attempt to replete you NTs either eat a very balanced diet and let you body take care of it, or do some research and crate a cocktail of certain precursors that affect eCh other in a replenishing way, without the unfortunate lowering of one due to raise levels of another.

Take a DXM regiment to promote a constant rate of metabolism of the drug into it's more active metabolites.

DXM is already serotonergic, with SNRI/SSRI properties, it's primary metabolite dextrorphan is a potent NMDA antagonist with tolerance reducing effects and neuroprotective effects (also possibly sharing in the synaptogenesis promoting effects found in ketamine), and the metabolites of those drugs, 3-hydroxymorphinan, has been shown to be protective of dopamine receptors and possibly prevent, or aid in the recovery of, damage done to neurons from stimulant abuse.
