After reading a trip report on erowid (http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=94953) i decided to ask someone about NBOMe body chemistry...is possible to have a bad reaction to phenethylamines and have a sudden drop in blood salts levels which can even result in death?
Was the guy that wrote that report just making things up?
The doctors didn't know nothing about what happened and gave the 2 guys just random assumptions?
I really need to find that out because in 2 weeks i'm going to try my first phenethylamine (25i-NBOMe) and i want to be as safe as possible.

Probably stress-induced or otherwise, I know that being a vegitarian puts you at risk for nutrient/electrolyte imbalances. To the best of my knowledge phenethylamines do not have a direct effect on blood electrolytes. But that's just speculation as it is never mentioned what actually caused the bout of unconciousness.

If you want to be safe you should be using phenethylamines that have been reserched for more than 2 years. The NBOMe series is relatively new and has not had anywhere near the level of reserach done that the parent phenethylamines have.

Typical causes of electrolyte disturbances (hyponatremia, hypokalemia) are:

-overdose of diuretics (even caffeine)
-water intoxication from drinking too much water
-prolonged vomiting

Phenethylamines are not known to be diuretics, so the most likely cause is that the person was drinking too much water in an attempt to prevent dehydration. Water poisoning can manifest as unconsciousness and grand mal type seizures.

The kid could have freaked out and hyperventilated his way into respiratory alkalosis, which then caused the hypokalemia. This isn't a typical cause of hypomagnesemic hypokalemia, but its documented (well, respiratory alkalosis as a cause is documented... and respiratory alkalosis can be caused by hyperventilation).

Who knows, though -- its impossible to conclude with just the information given in that trip report. That being said, I highly doubt it was a direct result of the 25I-NBOMe.

Thank you for the informations, now i'm feeling safer about trying 25i.
sekio, i really appreciate advice about "new RCs" but when i said i wanna be as safe as possible i meant as safe as possible researching that particular compound, from what i've read so far it really resembles what i'm looking for from a psychedelic substance.
That will not mean i will not take precautions, i may have tried only a few chemicals but i'm kinda responsible about taking them =D so wish me good luck.
And getting less serious on there...will drinking gatorade prevent hypokalemia in case of a excessive diuresis?

No, Gatorade will supply potassium and sodium only, if you're throwing Ca/Mg balances off you need intravenous mineral treatment.

Electrolyte imbalances, esp. stress-precipitated ones, are extremely rare and you shouldn't worry about them unless you've been losing fluids at an abnormal rate or you eat a very restricted diet.

I highly doubt it was a direct result of the 25I-NBOMe.
I think the same.

In my single experience with 25C-NBome, I inadvertently drank a shit ton of iced tea during the several-hour trip. For whatever reason, I was always thirsty during the trip, I guess. I didn't realize how much I had drunk until I realized the fridge was empty and my recycling bin was full. So it's not hard for me to imagine, based on this one experience, that someone might drink too much water while tripping on 25C or 25I. FWIW.

Know anymore about this?

I think I did this once, or something vaguely similar. I was in pain from stomach ache and hyperventilated as I was on the edge of being sick for hours. I started to get cramp in every muscle in my body, my hands cramped up and tightened so I could not open them, my back curled, my cheek muscles went weird. Was fucking scary. Happened twice.
