Natural/herbal or other drugs for anxiety?

I normally use any kind of sleep aid for anxiety because as far as i can tell, thats what there for.

I have a friend that has very good results using Vitamin B12 for his anxiety, I tried it for awhile and I noticed a bit of a difference in my anxietal issues. Good link. The studies don't seem conclusive but adding vitamin B to your diet can't hurt.
 
After all the different routes trying to use something as relaxant none of the hardcore ones seemed sustainable. And mostly led to cycles of binging tapering stopping or swapping.

Herb's are so limited in effect's and unpredictable meaning herb's like lemonbalm or asfwhaganda, Kratom/ Kava ao imo are drugs. But more forgiving then the first category.

Med's like Mirtazepine and Pregabalin again ime were pretty effective side effect free alternative's. But unpredictable, maybe my personal chemistry. Compared to Benzos/ GHB/ Alcohol a lot more benign.

And then there is apperently a calming nerve in your body that has that function, calm you down, which you can train. If your body shows signs of anxiety because your system is not in homeostasis. And the Sympathetic Nervous System is in constant overdrive.
Train the Vagus Nerve, which controls the Calming Para-Sympathetic Nervous System.

The Vagus Nerve/ Vagal tone are ao of influence on appetite/ digestion/ gut flora. So you can train it from all different angles.

What's a good natural/herbal (i.e.) legal or usually legal product that calms you down heaps?
(For either recreational relaxation, or dealing with medical/psychological problems)


In social situations, i can get quite phobic at times and so as a result im quite a heavy drinker (but only when i go out, not like during the day etc)
Im also petrified of public speaking and really need some drugs to help me out. (for presentations, and job interviews etc)
Im reading a self help book so im already partly dealing with the physcological side of it. I know the chemical side of my body plays a large role in my problem, because say for example i haven't eaten anything all day, i will be a LOT more anxious and uncomfortable etc. (hypoglycemic i suppose)
But a full stomache still doesn't get me right so i want something more.


Ive been doing a bit of browsing around websites which sell this sort of stuff and ive found a few things:
-Kava (i used to think it was illegal to import in oz, but i found an australian websites selling it :) it's just restricted or something)
- Herbal pills, like those ones from amsterdam, lounge-e
- Valerian

I don't smoke, but wouldn't mind smoking some herbs for a bit of relaxing fun...like maybe
- Passion Flower
- Lions Tail
- but i don't think you can get Kratom in australia :(


So what are your opinions on the ones i mentioned, or do you have any better suggestions?

Mugwort does miracles with respect to anxiety, plus I consider It to be recreational somehow.
It makes your dreams vivid and colorful.
Passion Flower is a good option too. It tastes good when smoked.

Vitamine B1 controls ao appetite, alcoholics and appetite and B1, other's have posive effect's on stress/ anxiety, they say.
Vitamine B6 in excess causes nerve damage. starts with numbness in the extremities, but reverseable. Sounds a bit like to little B12 same symptoms.

And B6 is with B12 in high doses correlated with increased risk in hip fractures in women.
Too much B3 also doesnt sound very pleasant. So at normal dosages they might help, you just won't notice it ime.
Even GABA doesnt pass the BBB.

And then their is the quality of the ingredient's. They range from bio-active form pre-fermented bio-organic plant derived non heated not capsulated or pilled, but in extra vierge suspension/ solution. Full spectrum, like with Tocopherols (vitamine E), lacking the toxic chemically produced racemic pure DL-Tocopherol, but accompanied by its fellow companion's and the Tocenitrol's (?).

And on the other side the commercial brand's which contain the cheapest forms. So not Folate (natural form) but Folic acid, not methyl/ adenosylCobolamine (natural form) but cyanoCobolamine (B12) both chemical.

Not magnesium-bisGlycinaat which passes the BBB or Tartraat if you want muscle, Magnesium-Oxide, which is a laxative.
