One two three, one two three
o'er the emblem of freedom
I may not be universal
But everyone knows me

The goodness - these ideals
before or after their time
I'm loved for a lot
The roar feeding my drive

Always on guard, one
eye open while sleeping
Even if the shots are merely ocular
They burrow into my mind

I know where you live
as you do I
We live where we stand
Where we toil, where we die.

could you explain this a little? Are you talking about an actual nation?

Well, I got the idea for the poem from seeing a pic of George W. Bush and his wife dancing at an inaugural ball, and although I don't like the man, it was a rather powerful image in my mind. It drew up images of the kind of drive it takes to follow the road through to becoming a world leader, and how we all have that responsibility in the end, in a sense.

titles can always change, i really liked the poem.

i mean to say the poem sent a message to me of separation from nation
