Okay so, when I was 16 I made the very bad decision to experiment with Oxycontin.. of course like most others I fell in love with the high and went into a downward spiral, Stealing, dealing and doing it every time I could get my hands on it, 3+ times a week and bingeing every other week for about 2 years.. then once I could no longer acquire it I switched to methadone.. if you've ever snorted this stuff you know how painful it is! It's like chalk.. now, I have noticed I have moderate to severe nasal damage, Before I was doing this I could breathe through my nose silently but now if the room is silent you can hear it, like a whistle.. Now for the question.. I reckon since doing this I've lost easily more than 50% of my sense of smell, If I want to smell something it literally has to be touching my nose and I have to sniff really hard.. and when I breathe, it's really kinda rough... hard to explain.. when you breathe it's smooth right? but it's kind of like having a small cold.. but all the time.. and what's really odd is I can still taste things the same way as before? even though is taste not the majority of smell? It's been around 2 months since I've done it... What I want you guys opinion of is, do you think the damage is irreversible? I know it's best to ask a doctor but that would be rather humiliating since the cause would be rather obvious.. It's a cliche to say but you really do take the sense of smell for granted! It's actually causing me to become rather depressive about it... If I never snorted anything again will my senses/nerves regenerate?

if you think you did that much damage i would for sure go to a doctor about this. they may or may not look down on you but is it really that big of a deal when it could save your nose, etc.?

Definitely stop snorting, methadone pills contain ingredients designed to deter abuse, it burns massively upon insufflation, even after creating a liquid solution that you've filtered in my experience.

^correct. Plus, sniffing methadone has no advantage IMO. Regardless of ROA, methadone has a slow onset. In addition, it's oral bioavailability is very high, so you might as well swallow it. I know you're still experiencing the consequences of using this way, but it's good to know for future reference (in fact, oxycodone has a HIGHER BA when taken orally than when insufflated.)

As for your current situation, I do not think that anyone will be able to tell you exactly what kind of damage you've done but I agree with other users in that you should see a doctor, you don't want to lose your sense of smell or struggle to simply breath.

Okay thanks guys, saving my sense of smell is definitely worth a little embarrassment for.. so, if i'm going to do either drug again you recommend I parachute? and being a better bioavailability orally does that mean I won't need as much to get the same high as when I did insufflating?

From what I know, insufflated methadone is pretty much just as effective as the oral ROA, so there wouldn't be a need to change your dosage. However, oral oxycodone can have up to a 20% increase, so it might be worth starting off at a slightly lower dosage.

I once made the mistake of snorting methadone. It was easily the worst burn of anything I've ever put up my nose.

It's hard for us to say whether or not the damage is permanent, and whether or not your sense of smell will return. You should really seek a professional medical opinion.

Snorting methadone? Methadone's not exactly a quick acting opioid, any reason to doing this? I've heard of some people IV'ing it as well...

Snorting drugs tends to destroy the nasal membranes over time. A classmate of mine had a 8 month-1 year run of heavily snorting crystal meth, and his sense of smell never fully returned, despite using what he thought were proper supplements during the end stages.

I've massively fucked my sinuses from snorting so much Oxycodone over the past two years. They're so bad, I had a very hard time explaining to my doctors why my sinuses seemed to have so much "debris" in them. I think binders built up and got trapped in there somehow.

Anyway, I wouldn't tell any fellow Oxy snorter to worry too much because I have fucked up sinuses/nasal passages to begin with. I've always had problems with them. Causality and all, I can't even be sure my current sinus problems are 100% from the Oxy. For all I know it could be from anything or a continuation of the sinus issues I've faced off and on my whole life.

Anyway, point being just be careful and take a break from snorting for a while. Especially Methadone. Fortunately oral Oxy is quite, quite nice.

Sorry for the late reply guys, I just got back from camping.

I read up on methadone a bit before starting it and saw that it was not known to give a pleasurable high of any sort and was better off parachuted.. But I guess you could say I had become addicted to the 'ritual' of snorting, it had a kind of placebo effect on me, I enjoyed the process.. Also, while I had no euphoria from it, I did nod out a lot and it made me slightly numb, which of course is nothing compared to Oxy but better than nothing/going through Oxy withdrawal.. which I found much more horrendous than the methadone WD.
On your friend, How long has it been since that 1 year run? did it return at all or just slightly/not at all?

Yea The first time I tried it it felt like I snorted acid, almost enough to deter me away from ever doing it again.. but unfortunately for the sake of a high, some people are willing to go through any pain to get their desired effect.. I know there's a whole Doctor/Patient Confidentiality thing but say if for instance, it was reported I was taking advantage of a prescription, and the doctor was aware.. could they report this as some sort of evidence that it was indeed the case?

Interesting I'll test this out, thanks.. is this implying that snorting wastes up to 20%? Other than when particular particles get lost during administration.

Prior to starting my sinuses were as perfect as they come... Now it feels like I have a continuous sinus infection + blood noses I would rarely ever get them in the past but now they seem like an everyday thing.. are you still using Oxy? and the same way? If not has anything improved? (that you can tell, of course that might be hard with underlying problems) Did you admit to the doctor what was happening or did you bs?
Any tips on oral Admin? Parachuting, crushing, pill caps etc?
