there are 2 doors. one leads to heaven,the other to hell. there are two guards stationed at their respected doors. the guard to heaven always tells the truth. the guard to hell always lies.
you way ask one guard only one question to try and decide which door is which.

Classic puzzler. Now suppose they only answered in their own language (but they do understand english). And suppose all you knew about their language was that sdra and quisa mean yes and no, but you didn't know which was which.

Anyone else have today off? The only reason I do is because it's marathon Monday and no one wants to drive around that.
I have tried talking to him about it before, but the monkey on his back sees it as a threat and the response is either unpleasant verbal assault or lies and bullshit.
Should I just paint him into a corner and force him to get help/rehab?

Ya I think everyone goes through that stage of "wtf I'm not an addict!". I mean he is really gonna have to quit for himself but, I think that a letter would be a nice non confrontational way to go about it.
I guess it all depends on what you are saying. If it's dude you got a problem then that's one thing. If it's dude I'm not gonna stick around for this than that's another.
Not sure if you are comfortable posting in TDS but, they I'm sure they would be able to help. You're welcome to keep it here though.
unfortunatley you cant force anyone to quit. he has to be ready and willing to quit or its just pointless. if you do go thru with the letter just make sure it isnt too incredibly confrontational. it is a sticky situation for sure. tread lightly.
edit: also, chances are he will not take it the right way and see it as you are attacking him, but like JB said its all in how you word it.
yeah been doing the tread lightly suggestion bit, and a few sitdowns... now i need to see results, because I am tired of dealing with bullshit.

Why is it essential for YOU to see results?? While no one wants to see their friends go through anything bad, it isn't for anyone but your friend to determine how he lives his life. The risk that of course comes with that is that your friend may alienate himself from everyone who means anything to him.
I think that you need to evaluate your friendship, and whether you want to continue it. Unfortunately it's when the chips are down that people learn who is in it for the long haul and who isn't. It's always up to you on what you want to deal with but this may be a time when your friend needs you more than you can ever know.

IMO, the only negative aspect of an oxycodone addiction is the price.
Also, I think just about every addict knows he is one. I mean, quitting for a few days would make it kind of obvious.

Ya I see your point BA but, for me at least it went from recreational use to full on junkie face pretty fluidly. Using once in a while becomes once a week then twice then fuck it why not.... It was hard at least for me to even except it until it was the point of no return.

i am just gonna give you the answer. you ask the guard which door will the OTHER guy say he is guarding. he knows the guard top hell will lie so he must say "he will say he guard the door to heaven" bc the other guard will lie.
if asked the guard of hell which door the other guy would say he is guarding he MUST lie and say "he will say he guards hell" bc this guard is a liar.
therefore whatever door the guard says the OTHER guard will say he is guarding is actually the door he is guarding.
