Experienced drug user, but I hadn't taken any myself that night. I, and the female friend I was with, split a bottle of champagne before going out. Light buzz at most. Arrived to our destination for the evening, a large NYE event, and bought one glass each of champagne. In response to our complaints about the high price, the greasy middle-aged ponytailed bartender replied that he'd make it worth our while. I thought that meant a full to the top glass. Now I cringe thinking about that comment.
From there, we snagged a spot to watch a band and... 4 or 5 hours later, I come to, feeling stone cold sober, dancing with a group of people I don't know but who obviously know me. The wig I was wearing is missing and the side of my face and ear are bruised (I assume I fell). I was confused, definitely didn't realize how much time had passed, and couldn't find my friend, so I went outside and called another friend. He and I went elsewhere and continued to party through the next day. I had no lasting effects, that I can tell, from whatever I ingested at the event.
Over the course of the following day, I start to realize that something wasn't right. The first friend and I confer and our stories match. One glass of champagne around 11, then nothing until hours later. Neither of us recall the countdown to midnight, no idea if we saw the bands we came specifically to see, no idea how or why we got split up or what we were doing all that time. I have a couple very short, very fuzzy memories from the evening, *maybe*. Just dancing and having a good time in general. She came to hanging out with the hired security for the event. No hangover to speak of either and they said she was acting relatively normal.
I'm confident I wasn't sexually assaulted and I couldn't really make sense of the whole thing so I somewhat dismissed it at the time. At this point (it's been a couple years), I'm still curious what we might have gotten. I was conscious the entire time, presumably, but amnesia spanning 4-5 hours and no detectable aftereffects. I went from total blackout to wide awake and completely coherent. This was not alcohol-induced; I hadn't consumed enough for that and I drink enough to know the difference.
I've guessed GHB or flunitrazepam (roofies), neither of which I've consumed recreationally so I have no personal experience to draw from, but it seems from my reading that GHB is too short-acting and that flunitrazepam would've had more lingering sedation. Any ideas?
