Lemme rephrase this since Im not getting any responses. (apologies- im not bumping this on purpose)

Would any of u junkies trying to quit or are already on suboxone consider getting a monthly shot of naltrexone to truly block u? Why or why not?

---------------------------below is what i first wrote, that got zero responses so may not be worth reading ----------------------
So instead of the implant, which I remember someone on BL cutting it out himself (ugh), has anyone here gotten this once a month naltrexone shot for opiate or alcohol addiction?

If so, was it effective for you in stopping cravings for opiates (iv h is my problem)?

If you got the shot for alcoholism, did it stop your desire to drink?

Did the naltrexone shot just make life frustrating bc of being block from receiving the satisfaction from your drugs of choice?

A friend of mine got the shot and it supposedly is working (but he turns to other drugs and is still in the lifestyle). Therefore, his rebrother recommended that i get the shot and live in some remote, rural area or wilderness, far away from dope.

I don't have any experience with the naltrexone shot so I can't help you there man. However I just wanted to pop my head in here and say to just hang in there and wait for some replies. I'm sure someone in here has something to say about the monthly shot.

i dont have any experience either, and i am on bupe.....however, i would not get the shot.........

i feel like the clinic would have to much control over me, i already have random UA's

I'm sorry I don't have any firsthand experience with this but I can say the following:

In the past I would have loved for this to have been an option for me because as an addict, I couldn't trust myself to stay away from drugs, especially during the period where I was living in my hometown. Yeah, it seems like you're removing freedom but you're choosing to remove said freedom no matter what route you take. It's just a preventative measure. I know it's scary to be an addict and know that you're cutting yourself off from some of the only pleasure you know at that point but that's part of sobering up: you learn to cope with life in other ways instead of running to drugs for a momentary high.

All I know is, I couldn't trust myself so I ended up moving away from my hometown and avoiding anyone who used or knew anything about where to get opiates so when I was feeling weak and wanted something, I wouldn't even know where to get it. It seems similar to naltrexone because you're shooting yourself in the foot but it's for the best in the long run. The cravings pass after a few moments of reeling and then you you feel better (and proud of yourself) for not giving in. Each "win" against cravings makes you stronger and stronger.

Hmmm, I am considering getting the shot and moving to a rural area to farm or some kind of manual labor so Im away from the cities and dope. However, Im scared that I may develop a worse habit w rc's - like methoxetamine or GBL (my 2 favorites)-- throw in mephedrone, ketamine, PCP analogs, alcohol, along with a mix of prescription pills- wellbutrin, xanax.

So, then I rationalize that it is healthier for me to be on dope or in the pain of wanting dope in the city so at least i can get relief once or twice a week and spread out the other drug use.

The shot does seem like a good barrier. I may explore it more...
I wish there was a shot for all destructive substances (and behaviors).

I just got out of rehab and had an injection in my spine of a natrexalone soultion that last's one year they told me. I got the shot around a week ago and it's been fucking with my mood alot. I am never really depressed except for this past week. I did not know a shot like this was also used in the US. Im in Eastern Europe atm. The shot was a thick blue liquid that burned for a couple hours. I can find out more about it if you want from my doctor. They said I couldnt use bupe at all but I am asuming I can.

Yea naltraxone blocks the receptors that endorphins bind to so depression and inability to feel pleasure at all can rsult. IMO my biggest fear with naltrexone is if your in an accident or need surgery or whatever opiates will be totally innefective scares the piss outta me.
