i have a buddy that is in love with OPIATES..he has the months of JANUARY and FEBRUARY off of this coming year, and he is telling me he is planning on going on an OPIATE binge(probably OXYCONTIN) during those 2 months, and after that, he is planning on going to MICHIGAN to get the IMPLANT treatment done, the treatment costs around $1000..supposedly, the implant lasts for 62 days, and after that, you can take pills from there on out...i have had one friend go get the IMPLANT thingy treatment done, and he said it worked well, but about a week after the 62 day period was over, he was back on OPIATES...
my question is, does anyone know someone who has had this treatment done, and how is that particular person doing now?? is there anything harmful about having this IMPLANT treatment done??any side effects etc etc??i have told my friend that he shouldn't be so reliant on the treatment to totally "cure" his addiction and withdrawal symptoms..
whats everyone's opinion on this?? if it actually that effective, i wonder why more people dont go this route??it is rather cheap, so...
appreciate any replies..

yeah thats what i am thinking as well..my buddy is the type of guy who fucking can't stand having withdrawal symptoms!!i know NO ONE actually likes withdrawal, but my friend is the type who literally goes fucking crazy if he notices the slightest hint of stomach cramps coming on..he is a WIMP actually..he doesnt have the willpower to avoid OPIATES either, so if its there, he will take it..he is just looking at this whole "IMPLANT" bizness as kind of an EASY WAY OUT so to speak..

The procedure you mentioned also caused a few deaths if I'm not sure.
opiates = tough love

Well, the implant is one means of making damn sure he wont be getting high off our wonderfull opiates... personally, I wouldn't want to NOT be able to fall back on my medicine .. on the other hand, this will totally kill his tollerance, so when he is off it and ready to use again, he will be able to get off with a tiny amount of dope (it's a great way to fatally overdose!)

I tried naltrexone (revia): years ago I went through an hospitalized detox from opiates and on the 7th day they started me on naltrexone.Depression is quite common in freshly detoxed people, but naltrexone makes it a lot worse. I was always on the verge of tears, didn't want to get out of bed and suicide was a constant thought....
I have kicked opiates countless times, even from bigger amounts that in this particular detox and I don't recall ever feeling this bad. It was explained to me that naltrexone could be messing up with the amounts of endorphines (opioids naturally produced by the body) that can bind to the receptors in the brain, therefore affecting the mood a great deal and making it even harder to sleep (when freshly clean its rare to
experience more than a couple of hours of restless sleep per night without the help of benzos). This was the explanation given to me by one of the doctors, I didn't read it black on white,most of the doctors I dealt with don't really understand addiction and my knowledge of neurophysiology isn't sufficient to back this statement up.... so take it with a grain of salt
A lot of the people that become dependent on opiates have depression issues to start with (opiates are awesome anti-depressants), now I don't know if this applies to your friend;
but its probably better if he tries the capsules before going for the implants, depression of that level is a serious beast..
