SEATTLE - Services were moved outdoors at a Rainier Beach church after a naked man smashed through a window Saturday, spattering HIV-positive blood inside and leaving a trail of destruction through the house of worship.
Officials believe the suspect was high on PCP during his unholy rampage through the Unity Church of God in Christ. And now parishioners are left in shock by the bizarre incident.

Neighbors say it was about 4 a.m. Saturday when the man hurled his naked body against a window and smashed through.

The jagged, broken glass left cuts all over his body that created a trail of blood spatters throughout the interior of the church.

The pastor, Rev. James Hicks, says church members started cleaning up the mess until they learned that the man is HIV-positive and has hepatitis C - possibly creating a bio-hazard inside the house of worship.

The rampage went from room to room - a picture gallery was torn from the walls, a trophy case was broken open, mirrors were shattered - and blood was smeared on walls, fixtures and furniture.

The pastor can't make sense of it.

"Just to see (the pictures) torn up on the floor. It was really, really really devastating to us," he said.

"The thing is that he cut himself, and he had blood all over the trophy case, blood where the mirror was, blood around the doors."

The naked vandal triggered an alarm, and police arrested him outside a short time later.

Volunteers got busy cleaning up until they realized the potential danger.

"They said, 'We don't suggest that you do this clean-up,'" Hicks says.

The pastor canceled church services until he knows how much blood splattered - and where. Church members later scheduled an outdoor service for Sunday morning.

Hicks referred to an incident that happened behind his church decades ago that could explain the rampage.

"His brother had hung himself in 1980, and that's the only thing that we can assume," he says.

"To know that it's 29 years ago, the first Sunday in June, that his brother - I remember - was hanging in that plum tree," says one of the parishioners, Jacqualine Hicks-Lenard.

The suspect was treated at a hospital before heading to jail.

Not surprising.

From what I remember, HIV isn't an issue, as it can't survive long in that situation. HCV can, though. :/ Messed up situation.

Weird how one second the pastor claims he can't make sense of it and the next is like well he was clearly on drugs and his brother did kill himself just out the back there. lol. Pretty disgusting to spray diseased blood all over the place, yuck!

what's their evidence for PCP?

he could just have gotten a grudge against religion for a variety of reasons :P

or he has psychosis 8)

TWAS PCP I TELLS YA!

Yeah man, you got a good point there, I doubt if he had a grudge against religion, he would get naked and jump through the window. Hey! I hate McDonalds, I'm goinna get naked in their playplace and harass children to prove a point. But Psychosis is definately possible. I think they decided PCP was the cause though because retards that have taken PCP get naked and do irrational things. My best bet is that he took pcp in bad set and setting.... saw that church and reminded him of his brother.

But church members say they have already forgiven the man, whose brother hung himself from a tree on church property on the first Sunday of June 29 years ago.

"I don't think it's a coincidence, and I believe that my neighbor said he heard him saying, 'I love you, I love you,' and he heard all that tearing up and commotion," explains church member Angelia Hicks-Maxie.

At the outdoor Sunday morning service, the pastor remembered the man in his prayers.

"Oh God, we ask that you look upon the young man who did this - amen. Because our business is forgiveness, yes, Lord."

Church member Billy Williams says, "The Bible says things work together for the good. And we don't understand it but our business is forgiveness and soul-saving, and some strange way God will get the glory out of this."

Now, the reaching out is both ways.

"His brother actually called," says the pastor, "and apologized on behalf of his brother so the forgiveness, the emotions are already starting to the healing can begin."

I clicked the link to the full article and this was all at the end of it.. I duno if the OP edited it or if they added this stuff later, but I'm kinda confused with that last paragraph.. Was the pastor saying the dead brother sent him a prayer-0-gram, or did the guys living brother actually pick up a phone?... Religion complicates stuff so much lol

The HIV factor is pretty fucked up.. but ya can see how a bad trip was in the making on that day for the guy =(

What's with PCP n runnin buck nekked all over the place?? lol

I have smoked PCP countless times and never once became violent. I think the people this happens to have serious mental issues to began with. It definitely changed my personality a bit while under the influence but I would never have ran around naked destroying things. I know lot's of PCP users who are completely normal folks, with jobs and family's. They just like getting their feet wet on the weekends =D

The pastor and congregation sound like loving, forgiving folks who walk the talk.

I feel horrible for the guy who perpetrated this, too. It sounds like his life has been basically a train wreck for quite some time. Perhaps this incident will ensure he gets the help he so obviously needs.

PCP is a dissociative psychedelic with nearly identical action on receptors as ketamine, dextromethorphin (robitussin), and somewhat similar to the dissociative psych nitrous oxide (whippets). of course, there are differences, but they are all NMDA antagonists
