Hello, thank you in advance for any input. I'll try to be brief:

I'm dealing with a terrible addiction to adderall. I'm at my lowest point and I recognize if I don't get clean, things will not end well.

I'm lost as to how to go about getting clean. I'm in the states, and currently do not have insurance.

Does anyone have experience with NA for adderall addiction? Is going to NA my best (only) option to handle the adderall addiction?

Hi, gep!

I can totally relate with what you're saying. Stimulants have a nasty shadow that walks with anyone who takes them. NA is probably a good route to take. At the very least, they can direct you to local resources that may help you. I'm glad you posted here on Sober Living. While you fight the addiction, and eventually beat it (don't worry too much if you take a few steps back while you beat it, because it happens to most of us) share your progress and how it's going on our monthly "staying sober" threads. You can find February's here. As you share more about your situation, I'll respond with whatever I can do for you. :)

And no, NA isn't your only option. You're here, right? :)

Believe me, you don't need insurance to beat an addiction to stims. Feel welcome to send me a private message anytime; I'll get back to you quick as possible.

hey man, there are all kinds of addicts in NA.you wouldn't stick out.
i have little experience with adderal/ritalin but you will find ppl there that knows
about these stims.

above poster is right too,NA is not the only option.
but it doesn't hurt to give it a try.
you will sit in a room surrounded by people that life has scarred.
it can't hurt to go.

you can pm me as well if u want but i have no knowledge on these things.
but sometimes even a perfect stranger can say that one sentence that makes sense.

good luck.

Welcome Gep! :)

As JAG said, NA is not the only route to recovery, there are many. Personally 12 step plays a large role in my own recovery, and I would love to answer any questions you may have about NA or AA so feel free to Contact Me if you have any questions about the program, or anything else for that matter. ;)

Otherwise, we actually have a stickied mega-thread devoted to the varied approaches to Addiction Recovery, which can be found Here.

I strongly recommend working some sort of daily program, which can obviously be completely individualized - there is no "one size fits all" approach, however most important in my opinion is a focus on becoming healthy physically, mentally, and spiritually.
