I'm smoking black ans of course that brings the opiate itch usually I kinda like bit this time it's horrible. Opiates, heroin in particular, also tend to make me irritated (maybe that's common? My boyfriend gets like that too.) So that makes the itch that much worse. I put a bunch of lotion on but it didn't help much so took a shower and put organic coconut oils all over after and not its not as bad. Anyone have techniques When this happens besides benadryl?

really the best solution is to have benadryl... or any other OTC antihistamine

i've used an ice pack before for "spot treatment"

lol you're outta luck then

just jump in the bath and stay there until the itching isn't as bad.
put on some relaxing music and don't pass out

There are both topical and oral meds that may help. A menthol/phenol cream or topical lidocaine seem to be of some help and can be purchased OTC. Lidocaine should be used sparingly. As far as oral meds (besides the antihistamines you mentioned) certain serotonin antagonists may be beneficial. Ondansetron (Zofran) and mirtazapine (Remeron) are both fairly effective at treating opiate induced pruritis but require a prescription and are not without side effects.
