sunday
6:37 p.m.
awake
still
and
alone
finally
the circle of friends
have long gone home
and the perfect boy
whom my heart feels nothing for
has finally left my bed
left me satisfied
left me empty
left me wondering
why?
what the hell is wrong with me??
he is beautiful
he is genuine
and he cares
he holds me close
strokes my hair
and rubs my back
while i wallow in my own
selfish
cracked-out misery
fully aware
that he despises
the very thing
that put me in this place
it's just that
he was too easy
to capture
no challenge
no effort
"c'mon boy follow me"
(scratches behind ears)
"good boy, now sit"
(sits obedientley tail-wagging)
i call him my
trophy boy
keeping him around
as a decoration
an accessory
my very own
ken doll
suburban punk-rock style
to dress
play with
and flaunt
at any time i please
i ask again
why?
when did i become
so cold
so jaded
so inconsiderate
i just wonder
what it was that
changed me
a ruthless hunter now stands
where there once was
a shy sweet girl.
