Ok so I use ketamine daily as it helps with whatever I may struggle with...

My doctor has me prescribed ritalin as its assumed I am ADD... yet ritalin doesnt straighten me out like ketamine does....

I also have gilberts syndrome, which is nothing serious the doctor says...

At this page:

http://www.gilbertssyndrome.com/thingsthathelp.php

search dextromethorphan and you get this:

Dextromethorphan - Depression, Brain Fog, Headache, Fatigue

This worked really well much of the time to counter the effects of my allergy-induced emotional, behavioral, and social symptoms.

Its saying that DXM helps with brain fog depression and fatigue which is what ketamine is totally helping me combat... and since DXM and Ketamine are similiar.... is it the ketamine that should be my medication (i know that would never happen) and not ritalin....

Does this make sense to anyone??

Thanks

What sort of dose of ketamine are you using? How often? What dose of ritalin did you try?

Ketamine acts in a different manner than DXM when it comes to secondary effects. They're both NMDA blockers and sigma ligands but dex is also a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and ketamine blocks/downregulates all sorts of ion channels and acts primarily as a dopaminergic.

Thanks for the response...

The doc has tried me on 20 mg per day up to 60 mg per day of ritalin.... It does help a little as compared to nothing, but only for a short duration it seems... The ketamine is like a small dose every couple hours i would say....

Should I maybe see about getting him to switch the ritalin to adderall or what do you think??

What is a "small dose"? 1mg? 10mg? 50mg? 100mg? How much are you taking in a day?

If the Ritalin isn't working maybe you should try switching to a SNRI like Wellbutrin? Amphetamine and Ketamine are pretty close to polar opposites...

Could it be you're just feeling the comedowns from continually doing ketamine/ritalin all the time? Both are physically addictive after all; if you stop doing them after doing it continuously it will make you feel tired and depressed. In addition, the comedown off of Ritalin has been regarded as pretty harsh.

If the Ritalin is n't doing anything, just drop it and try non-dopaminergic methods of controlling your problem. If it works and the comedown is just making you burnt out, a switch to Adderall might help.

"Allergy induced emotional, behavioral and social symptoms"??? lol. "I'm sorry, it's not my fault I'm being an asshole right now. I'm allergic to wheat and I just ate some bread. Here, let me take a few Benedryl's and I'll be all better"

Gilbert's syndrome is so not serious that it's been questioned why it's even considered a disease. It even apparently benefits your heart. The only negative that sometimes when stressed you can end up a bit yellow, but that doesn't seem to be serious either.

Yep your exactly right with that.... yellow jaundice can come under stress... that was what first got the doc to discover I had gilberts.. he ran a bunch of tests and stuff to make sure it wasnt anything serious and in the end he said just gilberts syndrome....

So when I see that DXM can be used to treat brain fog and fatigue caused by gilberts, i started to wonder if thats why the ketamine seems to clear my 'brain fog' as the website calls it and im actually not ADD?? hmmm???

No it has nothing to do with comedowns or anything... Ive had troubles my entire life and was put on ritalin almost two years ago and it helped a bit... but since ive been medicating with ketamine its been like what i was hoping ritalin would do for me....

Could adderall be my answer or do I not have ADD at all and its been gilberts syndrome and the ketamine is helping that??

sound like someone has an addiction and is trying to justify it? Happens all the time. It takes a real man to have an addiction, feel no need to justify it, and have no need to justify it.

I've always been concerned with Olney's Lesions - I know there is a lot of to & fro-ing on the subject, but nobody seems quite certain. OK, K occasionally, but daily....
