My phone is being tapped, I have to wear sunglasses when I manage to leave the house so that people can't see what I'm thinking! I keep seeing my mum change from a child to present day, at each stage she has different brightly coloured hair like purplr, red orange

It's not real. In the back of your head you might even know that.

Trust a nerd on this one, I have no reason to lie to you, and have experience paranoia myself.

That must be terrible for you. If you aren't seeing a doctor for a mental health conditon now would be the time to get an evaluation. If you are seeing a Doctor I suggest you contact him/her because you are experiencing delusions. Goodluck and please seek help because if you don't it will only get worse.

What do you mean by get me me one of those?

Thanks for taking this seriously original replier

Sorry for my insensitive post. I didn't see where you were coming from though I should have as I've experienced the worst mental breakdowns possible. Experiencing DT's from alcohol I've had visions and thought all kinds of people were out to get me, though it might have been so concerning the phone taps and being followed because of activities I was involved with. Needless to say therapy was good for me as I was leaving high school and starting college. Fortunate too was the case workers were from Rutgers and some foxes indeed.

Welcome. :)

If I can, can I just share what works for me to cancel off paranoid thoughts? This isn't psychological advice, i know that isn't allowed here, just my own experience. I use psychedelics sometimes regularly, so I'm familiar with the line between real/not real.

Thinking logically, what's a better use of your time?:

"If it sounds classically paranoid (obviously "tapped phone" falls under that); even if that part of your brain believes it 100%, just disregard it. Let the FBI tap your phone (this will never happen) because it's not worth your energy being paranoid with non-reality forever."

or

"Follow the occasionally exciting and invigorating (yet not real and paranoid) patterns your brain thinks up, but possibly be a non-functioning dependent person with a bleak future"

Acidtek, PM me any time I've not heard from you in ages and it sounds like you need a bit of support on this one.

For those who find amusement in such things, you might consider just how thin a vaneer accepted reality really is, our view of the world is largely a construct of convenience so it is far from surprising that from time to time bits of the construct break down or become distorted.

All the best to you AT, drop me a PM

Are you taking any street drugs? Certain drugs especially Amphetamines and cocaine can cause intense paranoia and delusions with high doses or addiction. As mentioned drug withdrawal especially something like alcohol withdrawal can cause symptoms like these. I would see and hear things that where not there all the time while coming off booze. I would even watch TV shows when the TV was not on ffs :\ . Are you diagnosed with any mental disorder? I have felt somewhat like that while suffering from really bad bouts of bipolar disorder.

I can't stress how much you need to see a doctor ASAP. It is obvious that you are either suffering from some sort of mental disorder, taking too much of some drug or both. The sooner you can get treated for your symptoms the sooner you will feel better.

Because I didn't take notice that this was the mental health forum I feel I jumped to conclusion and assumed similar, that he was very high and responded the way I did, jokingly. But since this is a harm reduction site and mental harm can be the most destructive I would not want to be the person who put that last nail in. If the poster is high, still he is vulnerable if not more so to hurt and emotion that leaves him in a state of mind without hope. Others here are reaching out to resolve any difficulties he is experiencing and that should always be the expectation of those in need.

Yeah paranoia can make you vulnerable as hell. It sounds crazy, but for me I'd think my friends and family were plotting to do me harm in some way, so years ago I had to make my home a kind of fortress. I even barricaded my doors and unplug the phone and tv because i thought they were spying on me through it. I lost 2 stone because i would'nt eat. I'm okay now, but you should really think about getting some medical help. They can do a lot to help you get through this.
Talking to people helps so your doing the right thing.
