Just wanted to post this for those looking with help to quit opiates. I've done this mostly on my own and though I have had great success with it thus far (only 20 days) I can't speak for how it might work for you specifically. Some of the stuff is a little hard to get, but not impossible..................
I have a 4 yr habit, starting low, gradually working my way up to roxi/H use insufflated at higher doses than I care to admit........
About a month before quitting I was able to reduce my dosages w the help of low dose naltrexone. I would consume 4.5 mg over a 3 day period along with use and repeat this for about a month. This made initial withdrawal much much milder for me than otherwise would have been. Supposedly, it helps to keep the receptors not so excited in the presence of no opiates. Also use .5mg of sub first day or 2 to get thru. I hate that drug though, its nasty and I dont recommend it unless you absolutely need it.
Ok, that was good for acute wd, but what kills me has always been PAWS......No energy, cravings, cognitive retardance & depression. So I have been reading alot about what I think causes this and I believe it has to do with low levels of dopamine in the brain (D2 area specifically).......I attacked this by getting on Wellbutrin (a dopamine reuptake inhibitor) and a small dose, <1mg, of Bromocriptine (a D2 receptor agonist). I was really suprised at the results. Normally I would have zero energy and be worthless after the acute wd's subsided, but with this I feel like I'm 95% better.......
Just wanted to share my experience with this as I feel the more tools you have in your arsenal the better chance you have of overcoming this sickness. As always, someone to talk to about it is very important as well, but NA isnt quite for me......Good luck to all no matter which path u choose.
