I've been a longtime reader of the threads discussed on this website but have only now decided to seek some personal advice. I've been addicted to oxycodone now for about 5 months, taking anywhere between 100-200 mgs daily.. Sometimes less. The severity of cold turkey wd's have led me to resort to the Suboxone route. I decided to go about this on my own as I've heard too many horror stories of doctors over-prescribing bupe. I'm easily stabilized on 1.5 mgs of Sub a day accompanied with .25-.5 mgs of xanax.. I'm aware that any doctor prescribing Sub would have me on at least 4 mgs a day, probably more.. :X

Anyhow.. Right now i'm on day 3 of my detox, taking the aforementioned 1.5 mgs of Suboxone a day.. My question is, after day 5 of cutting the Suboxone out, how bad will my wd's be in the week to come? I seem to be very sensitive to Suboxone, as I can even skip days without dosing only 2 days after taking my last dose of Oxy. Thanks for any support.

Your best bet is to taper off. I had a very bad opiate dependency, and the hellish wd's with it. I was able to use suboxone, and ween myself off in 3 weeks. I started on three 8mg subs a day (which would just get me "normal"), and tapered to roughly 1mg a day before stopping. The reason you can go longer than a day, before re dosing, is because buprenorphine has a long half life. The 30hr+ long half life, is the reason it works well for detoxing. I can't say with certainty, how you would feel after discontinuing, but I think you'd still be looking at mild wd symptoms. The hardest part for me, came after the detox, so I wish you the best, and if you truly want to quit, you will.:)

You started on THREE 8mg Subs a day?
Can I ask what your habit was preceding the Suboxone taper?

I just can't see any habit needing that much Suboxone..
I have a pretty large habit.. and while Suboxone doesn't work all that well for me..
I can be held with 2-4mgs every 8-12 hours.

(Oh, to give you an idea.. I usually IV between 8-15 OxyIR 30mg pills per day.. that's the normal range but often times it is more.)

I used usually around 20 bags a shot, not a day, but a single shot, and not shitty dope. I would never inject an OC into my body, but I used to snort 3 or 4 80's at a shot, and I have smoked them too. People always wonder how I could afford such a habit, and simply I couldn't, and I wasn't doing this alone. 2 other friends, were with me on this ride. We would drive very far daily, to the worst gang neighborhoods around NYC. We would buy low and sell high, and thats how we did it. If you look at it that way, we spent just about nothing out of our pockets. Our tolerance was simply staggering. I remember smoking gram after gram of good opium, just to curb my wd, and it wasn't working well at all. However, everyone else taking a few hits, were trashed. Towards the end, I gave up the needle, simply because snorting, kept me away from wd's longer, the rush was not worth it. I watched a good friend od in my car, and many of my "dope" friends, died of overdoses, and fentanyl laced bags. I had some of those bags, and If I would have done 1 more than I did, it would have killed me.

I hope nobody has to go through, what I did everyday for years. But I brought this hell on myself. I am afraid, and worry everyday, about the damage I did to my body, especially my heart. Any questions? I'm not shy:)
