I'll keep the background short: I have psychotic depression (the most severe form). I was prescribed Sertraline (Zoloft) in 2010 and it's made a significant positive improvement. My previous psych agreed I should be on it for life as I have organic depression*
Saw a new psych today (previous guy retired) and she said "I see you've been on the Sertraline for 14 years, I think we should try just taking you off it" I told her absolutely not, I was accidentally taken off it in hospital a few years ago and I didn't notice for a week (I'm on like 16 meds so didn't notice one of them being missing) and that's all it took for me to go back to being actively suicidal and having panic attacks.
She said she wanted to try anyway and insisted she was going to do it.
So I told her if she took me off it I would kill myself and leaving a note explaining what had happened and name HER, specifically, as being to blame. And that "when my family sue, they will not sue the NHS, they will not sue this hospital, they will sue YOU".
She agreed not to take me off it, but accused me of "Threatening" and "Trying to intimidate her" (note: I'm 5'5 and 109lbs and I said all of this in a calm tone, ain't nobody intimidated by ME).
Obviously I immediately called the hospital and requested a different doctor.
But looking back I feel a little bad, like maybe I went too far? WAS I the one who was in the wrong?
*Caused by a severe chemical imbalance in my brain rather than the depression being triggered by negative life events etc
