My Letter To The FDA (Re:Buprenex Status)

The War On Doctors has been going on for decades. This is a great .pdf synopsis of the War On Doctors:

http://www.aapsonline.org/painman/paindocs2/libbystatement.pdf

It does leave out the fact that we operated Narcotic Maintenance Clinics in this country well before the Methadone program began, starting with the Harrison Act.

http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/Library/studies/cu/CU13.html

The link above is a great article about the use of Narcotics maintenance clinics for injectable opioids in US history, and their positive aspects.

but there are a lot of drugs that do 1000000000x more harm than good and should stay illegal. Even if it is "pharmacy" grade pure stuff.

You're a moron.

Drugs do "1000000x" more harm BECAUSE they are illegal.

in the US...
430,000 people a year die from tobacco use
110,000 people a year die from alcohol use
~ 2,200 people a year die from heroin
~ 2,000 people a year die from cocaine

The lower 2 numbers could also be considerably lowered with legalization.

The top 2 numbers will always stay high, because they are doing more damage than all the illegal drugs COMBINED EVER WILL.

The only way total legalization would hurt anyone is some dumbass will want to try a drug, totally and completely ignore any safety precaution between them and the substance.

And to them, I say, let them die. They'll end up killing themselves anyways, whether or not you legalize drugs, someone will be making money off of their death.

Why not legalize it and give the free economy a fighting chance?

I completely disagree that if all recreational and addictive drugs were made available to users and addicts that the world would fall apart: it would only be a change for the better, as people use drugs whether they are legal, clean, pure, safe, etc or not. PCP, Heroin, Meth, Crack, etc are all available already- a 'British System'-esque state run program to administer clean paraphenalia (needles, ties, cookers, pipes, filters, etc), observe users and teach proper technique in 'consumption rooms', overdose recessitation classes and Naloxone nasal sprays, etc the infectious disease growth rate would plummet, crime would decrease dramatically, the subjective quality of life would increase. The drugs aren't the problem, it is the draconian legal system and punitive attitude towards users (and thus the illicit, unregulated market created by the former) that causes most of the problems related to drug use.

You noobs could do a little listening to someone who knows what's up over here. I mean seriously...what happened to INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY you fucking sheep?

Any drug becoming more acceptable leads to more people doing it. There's a reason nicotine, caffeine and alcohol are the most commonly abused psychoactive drugs, and it's not because they're the best ones.
YEAH, WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW WHY?

People do things because OTHERS do them, not because they know a damned bit about the drug.

What do you think I care about people who don't research before they try new drugs they haven't even heard of? THEY'RE DEAD BEFORE THEY WERE BORN, WHY EVEN BOTHER IN SAVING THEM?

Legalize drugs, let MONKEY SEE - MONKEY DO happen for a year or two, and all the morons in society will DIE. It'll be great guys, it'll be like the holocaust of the stupid, and no one will have to kill them - they'll kill themselves.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS? People are shooting insoluble filters on a daily basis...why not just let them OD on the ACTIVE ingredients rather then INACTIVE ones?

Dude, all you are is a drug addict and thats why your calling me a moron and that all the drugs in the fucking world should be legal. Can you give me some examples of why kids or teenagers or who the fuck ever should be free to go to the store and buy PCP,Methamphetamine, Heroin befre school or on their lunch break, or whatever floats your boat????would by doing so make our world a better place?yea because the thing that makes the world such a great place to live is drugs drugs and more drugs!!!RIGHT!!!!no WRONG!The people who are underprivliged right now and are drug addicts, having dugs legal and pure would make these people better people right?no it would wreack havoc on our nation, once the only thing that keeps people going is leglized, what do you think these people are going to do with their lives? hey man drugs are legal now thats fucking aweome man, lets go buy some smack and some blow and get torn the fuck up. Ok now that that is done what now?how about we try and get a job or hey maybe we should give up drugs and try and go back to school so we can do something with our shit lives.NAAAH why do that when we can just sit around and get high like we have been doing but only now its legal.

I think anybody who says ALL DRUGS SHOULD BE MADE LEGAL is either so ignorant they have no concept of what that type of law would entail and they dont give a shit they just want drugs to be legalized so they can get high cheaper and dont have to worry about any jail/prison time or things similar. As I said before, I am for legalizing certain drugs that have positive uses in the medical field, and some that should be legal for recreation purposes also, just as tobacco, alcohol, and in some parts of the country, mary jane. But come on people, ALL DRUGS, that is just so fucking rediculous its comical. And I bet that everyone, or a good majority of the people on here who are in the same boat as Captain.Heroin here is a drug addict who may or may not have a job, is addictted to one or multiple drugs, and all pretty much say the same damn thing, give the same damn lecture about why drugs should be able to buy legally.

And Captain Heroin's response to Footcrazy's post is one of the most fucking stupidest statements and untrue that ive probably ever heard! You know why people do that?becuase they see other people do it--give me a fucking break, so now were at the point where people are only doing drugs, alcohol and whatever only because they are seeing others do it,Monkey see monkey do8) sorry but ive seen people try and shoot heroin oxycontin, ICE, and everything elses under the sun, but that didnt make me want to try it out becuase they are doing it.god people here are so ignorant.

You're right, there are a lot of ignorant people here, especially you.

You parrot the same ridiculous stereotypes about drug addicts (jobless, homeless, losers, stupid, etc) and then complain when more than one person uses the same argument for full or partial decriminalization/legalization of some or all illegal drugs.

You don't seem to grasp that criminalizing recreational drugs creates a whole host of social, economic and political problems that would not exist otherwise. The massive spread of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, TB, the overcrowding of the US prison system and the creation of the so called 'Prison/Industrial Complex' that profits on the incarceration of millions of Americans, crimes associated with addiction from the population that is either too poor for treatment or for whom no real treatment exists (burglary, petty theft, shoplifting, etc), the use of the War On Drugs as a political tool to expedite billions of dollars into defense contracters, private military corperations, and the many cottage industries that feed on them (that make up the 'Military/Industrial Complex').

Various programs including state subsidized maintenance, needle exchange programs, education and disease prevention programs like the needle exchanges, free condom ,free STD testing programs, the decriminalization of personal amounts of recreational drugs, the complete removal of mandatory minimum sentances for all drug offenses, the use of maintenance and/or reputable rehab programs as a total substitute for incarceration for all drug possession offenses, the use of 'community policing' policy instead of citizen harrassment. In most respects these programs already exist, they have proven to be successful, they are underfunded and not available everywhere they are needed. The drug war can come to an end, addiction can be managed as the disease that it is, infectious diseases can be stopped and contained, jails and prisons will be used for real criminals, people who need any kind of help can get the appropraite treatment. All of this is entirely possible on a wide scale, it has medical, economic and scientific basis and in all cases of what I mentioned, years of practical application. It just needs to be implemented on a nation wide basis.

You insult anyone who doesn't agree with your narrow minded perspective on drugs and addiction, repeat ignorant and invalid stereotypes and complain when anyone else does the same thing; double standard.

what your saying is a re-peat of what you have already an others have already said.

"Various programs including state subsidized maintenance, needle exchange programs, education and disease prevention programs like the needle exchanges, free condom ,free STD testing programs, the decriminalization of personal amounts of recreational drugs, the complete removal of mandatory minimum sentances for all drug offenses, the use of maintenance and/or reputable rehab programs as a total substitute for incarceration for all drug possession offenses, the use of 'community policing' policy instead of citizen harrassment."

These types of programs, some of them are already an existence and are in scatterd states throughout the U.S.And I am 100% for those types of programs. If any, it is you Tchort that insults people that dont have the same ideas as you do. Just becasue Im not for the legalization of all drugs, due to my personal opinions on certain drugs that they would have a horrible impact on the people of our world if they could go down to the market and access them.
An I wasnt sterotyping addicts, I was merely creating an example situation that would more han likely be the case of a lot of people who are already drug addicts. You dont think I grasp the situation of recreational drug use, maybe if you would read all of what I have to say you would go on to read that I am in fact for legalization, just not for every drug. If you can t grasp that concept than I suggest you dont open your mouth and post when you dont understanding someone's point of view.

I know you're suggesting that these drugs become available only to those who already use, but I disagree that 'people use drugs whether they are legal, clean, pure, safe, etc or not.' Any drug becoming more acceptable leads to more people doing it. There's a reason nicotine, caffeine and alcohol are the most commonly abused psychoactive drugs, and it's not because they're the best ones.

Great letter though, really well written.

well... the addiction to nictoine, caffeine and alcohol don't really ruin your life as much as an addiction to smack. Why? Because the social component is still there.

Everybody accepts alcoholics and smokers, because the drugs are "socially okay". Who doesn't like a beer or two? If someone screws up using these things moderately and becomes dependent, society doesn't abandon him. Why should it be any different for heroin?

I was letting you know there is/was no change. I have a doctor that prescribes both currently, so its still kosher. Though the suboxone guidelines argue that it shouldn't be done, there isn't any sort of steadfast rule against it.

The only changes to DATA2000 is an amendment allowing doctors who have been prescribing Buprenorphine for a year to have a 100 patient limit rather than 30 patients.

Some Methadone clinics and Suboxone/Subutex doctors do not allow a patient to concurrently take prescribed Benzo's. Has nothing to do with the law, just covering their ass.

Dude, all you are is a drug addict and thats why your calling me a moron
Funny...I haven't used heroin in over 2 months. Could you tell me again why I'm calling you a moron?

It's because the war on drugs is hurting innocent civilians more than it's helping them, and you can't see this.

Can you give me some examples of why kids or teenagers or who the fuck ever should be free to go to the store and buy PCP,Methamphetamine, Heroin befre school or on their lunch break, or whatever floats your boat????
Because they already do? Because it's harm prevention? Because people will still have access to dangerous drugs anyway? Because it obviously didn't help you from becoming a junkie Mr. Raining Down Oxy? Because a failing system can't randomly start to work?

would by doing so make our world a better place?yea because the thing that makes the world such a great place to live is drugs drugs and more drugs!!!RIGHT!!!!no WRONG!The people who are underprivliged right now and are drug addicts, having dugs legal and pure would make these people better people right?no it would wreack havoc on our nation, once the only thing that keeps people going is leglized, what do you think these people are going to do with their lives? hey man drugs are legal now thats fucking aweome man, lets go buy some smack and some blow and get torn the fuck up. Look at what happened during alcohol prohibition. Society was safer without rules and restrictions.

You are completely ignorant, your writing represents it. You can blow hot air out on the internet all day long, but it doesn't change how wrong you really are.

I think anybody who says ALL DRUGS SHOULD BE MADE LEGAL is either so ignorant they have no concept of what that type of law would entail and they dont give a shit they just want drugs to be legalized so they can get high cheaper and dont have to worry about any jail/prison time or things similar.
And I think people who think drugs should be illegal are ignorant of our society's problems, and how the war on drugs perpetuates these said problems. I think people who don't know the true history of drug use in this country are ignorant of the fact that EVERY drug was legal in this country for longer than it's been illegal...and I think they're ignorant because they don't realize how illegalizing cocaine created crack. I think they're ignorant because they don't see who's really benefiting from the war on drugs (Drug dealers and Drug confiscators - police, DEA, etc).

Cry a river to me about some dumbass friend of yours who OD'd...cry me a river about how we should keep drugs illegal "for the kids"...and it doesn't change how wrong you really are.

But come on people, ALL DRUGS, that is just so fucking rediculous its comical.
What's another 4,000 people dying a year compared to 100 times that statistic?

Either you didn't read my post or have trouble doing math...are you retarded? Special ed? Did you fail math? No?

Well...when tobacco kills 100x more than heroin and cocaine combined, you can REALLY see what should, in theory, be "illegalized". However, alcohol prohibition proved that removing a substance from society is impossible. HEROIN proved this in the 1970's for those of you who are going to misconstrue statistics from 100 years ago.

You can't get rid of a substance because you want to, and illegalizing a substance only makes society more dangerous. If you can't see this, you aren't trying hard enough, because it sure as hell is the truth.

I haven't done cocaine in over 8 months, I haven't done heroin in over 2 months.

I don't know what drugs you're telling me I'm addicted to...but I'm not a drug addict.

There are people who will "say the same damn thing, give the same damn lecture about why drugs should be able to buy legally", and THEY DON'T USE DRUGS, THEY JUST WANT TO STOP TOTALITARIANISM, and they just want to restore individual rights of self medication. There's nothing wrong with that.

sorry but ive seen people try and shoot heroin oxycontin, ICE, and everything elses under the sun, but that didnt make me want to try it out becuase they are doing it.god people here are so ignorant.
You must hang out with the cool crowd then.

I didn't say people ONLY do things they see other people do, nor did I say you do EVERYTHING you see others do (otherwise seeing meatspin.com makes you into a homosexual).

I don't know how I can make it more clear for you that you're being emotionally driven into thinking drugs should be illegal (because you had a problem with them), rather than logically explaining why they should be legal (because society is hurting with them being illegal). And do you know how you responded? With opinions, personal experience, and bullshit. There wasn't a drop of knowledge or information in your post.

Is this the bluelight standard?

I am in fact for legalization, just not for every drug. If you can t grasp that concept than I suggest you dont open your mouth and post when you dont understanding someone's point of view.
Your plan will fail - it still produces a black market - it is still a failed society.

How is that going to help anyone or anything? It won't.

I don't know why you'd want to legalize some drugs but not others...that's a half-assed attempt, and there will be rebound illegalization of all drugs, because once it doesn't work, that will be the US's attempt at legalization, and then no one will suggest moving back there for quite some time.

Why do you think some drugs should be illegal?

Are you dealing drugs?

If not, what's your gain by keeping them illegal? Do you want to have to pay more for merchandise because other crack heads decided they needed a fix? Do you want to keep paying taxes towards throwing pot heads in jail but keeping drug dealers and sociopaths on the street?

You clearly have no idea how any of this works, I'd suggest to stop while you're ahead.

You're right, there are a lot of ignorant people here, especially you.
He's just upset because he can't find heroin, only oxycodone.

I have an issue that would seemingly fit in well within these posts. I have been prescribed xanax for the past twelve years. In those twelve years, I also became a heroin addict, at times, a very bad one, and at times a recovering one. The fact remains the same however, I need the xanax for my anxiety. I have done entirely too many drugs over the years, beginning with grass at 15, taking acid every other day for about 2 years, and then to dope, with intermitten cocaine use in various forms, as well as my share of k, e, prescription pain medications. What I'm getting at is, all of this drug use has obviously caused not only physical damage, but all of the drugs that are intented for head play, have had a profound effect on my mind. So, with this being said, how come, I can not go to a doctor and tell him my background, so that I can be completely honest with him and he knows my past, so that he can make the best decisions for my ongoing health. As soon as a doctor hears heroin use, even if I have been clean for 5 years, they blatantly refuse to write for my xanax, which I am by now physically dependent on, not to mention, the need for it with all of the anxiety that was already there, but the anxiety caused by all of the drug use. The whole system is screwed. My current suboxone doctor refuses to write for any benzos, claiming it is in the prescribing guidelines currently for the suboxone program. Now, when I used to use a differrent suboxone doctor, he gave ne my suboxone, as well as my xanax medication at the level, which is rather high, that was needed. Does anyone know of any change to the DATA2000 making it illegal for suboxone doctors to prescribe benzos? Furthermore, he already covered his own ass by making me sign a waiver stating I am aware of the deaths attributed to suboxone and benzo mixing. Does any of this make sense to anyone? What I'm sayin about finding a doctor that you can be honest with and still get the midication a-you have been on for years, and b-the medication you need in order to live a normal life.
This is the result of a war on doctors, due to the war on drugs.

You can't get a legitimate anxiety prescription because other people get high on xanax.

This is why OUR SYSTEM IS FAIL - IT IS TIME TO SCRAP IT.

RainingDownOxy would say something along the lines of "I think xanax should be illegal but oxy would be legal!!!!NOT!`1"

that was a very well written letter, it would be amazing if they actually did this. I had never heard of that medication/drug before Buprenex but I have been on methadone for like 3 years now and recently started prescribed xanax for anxiety and was not mixing them at all really, only occsionally. But, now I'm having a problem with not, and I used to have an h problem until recently and it seems like either the buprenex or injectable or oral methadone would help me do so much better until i get better and the pain is gone from my bad knee surgery, im waiting to have another one. and then im off to rehaaaab. but if this was available i think it would be so much better.. i have so many friends that i've seen their lives go to hell from these drugs & the consequences with the police, then making it harder to get jobs and have a good life.

Wow, long post - sorry im kinda drunk and ranting on..
