My Friend and the Dragon

My best friend likes to delight in shooting heroine. He will often either come to me with needle marks all over his arms or feeling dope sick asking if I can even get him some hydros. I'm not big into opiates but I enjoy shooting and he offers to pay and give me half the boi every time. I feel like with consistency addiction could be a problem for my buddy and the withdrawal sounds nasty. Recently I did something stupid and gave him my connect because I dont want to deal with it, but I don't want to lose my friend either. What to do?

I'd let him know that you're worried about how much he has been using. He might be angry at first and think you're meddling, but it will most likely make him think and could save his life. Just let him know that you're concerned as his friend and you want him to stay in this world and will do what it takes to support him. And then follow through with it. Bring him to NA meetings, comfort him when he's going through withdrawals, just be there to talk to him. You may want to consider your own usage as well and agree to quit with him.
