My experience with methylphenidate

Tried searching for threads that have this topic, didn't find any...

So I've been taking this substance in 2 separate forms at different times.

It does wake me up, but instead of adding concentration, it seems to remove initiative. So I just sit in the same spot doing the same thing, even when the interest is gone.

Basically turns me into a zombie. I imagine that would be perfect if someone wanted to turn me into a mindless drone, fit for working on an assembly line, for example.

Anyway, just wanted to share. Very bad drug, in my opinion. What's the purpose of being awake if you can't do anything worthwhile with that wakefulness??

This is a common reaction to methylphenidate, some people take it to study and end up wasting the whole day hyperfocusing on a drawing.

It's definitely NOT hyperfocusing.

It's losing any and all initiative.

I feel you man. I personally hate methylphenidate. Turns me into a jittery anxois mess. Try amphetamines man. Much more euphoric and much better more add in my opinion.

as in concerta and ritalin? its not a bad drug. Its good because it doesnt directly command the release of dopamine, it kind of recycles it, keeps it around longer. problem with it is its also a norepinephrine reuptake inhbitor, i believe this is where the nervous, jittery, fuckt-ness of it comes from. But after taking a regular, sensible dose for months, consistantly. I have found it to be very effective.

Are amphetamines a better solution? hmm depends. now your talking about a whole different mechanism of action that can lead to abuse and tolerance, depends on the person.

^^ And methylphenidate use can not lead to abuse and tolerance!?

I find amphetamines to be more effective at getting productive work done than methylphenidate, although this was only after a few experiences. The first few times I took adderall I found it too intense and suffered from massive anxiety, don't get that anymore now though. Just gets me going.
