My Doctor gave me Naltrexone to help curb my cravings for Alcohol. My main concern is Will smoking meth still be enjoyable while taking this medication?
I asked my doctor if it's safe to use stimulants like speed, ice, ecstasy while taking Naltrexone and he said there's no noticeable side affects when combining these drugs. The doctor told me this combo is safe.
A bit about my background, I'm a 45 year old male alcoholic who also enjoys smoking meth. I've been a functional alcoholic for 20+ years and a somewhat functional recreational user of crystal for the past 11 years. When i say I use meth I smoke 0.3 of a gram of tina once every 4 days so i get the full cycle of meth addiction in that i feel great for 2 days and then I feel the withdrawals from meth that manifests in myself drinking 6 to 12 bottles of beer. You know to take the edge off and settle my nerves. Sometimes i might go 5-6 days without meth and that's when i really get stuck into the grog.
I understand poly-drug use is not a good thing but from a harm reduction and healthy lifestyle point of view I am more concerned about drinking 12 bottles of beer in a day on multiple days than smoking the 3 points of meth.
I don't use heroin or opiates at all.
So my main question is will i still feel pleasure from smoking meth in my current regime of at least 2-3 days off the meth while on Naltrexone?
