Beginning the process today. Will begin posts when symptoms start. Desperate for support, the devil is in control.

Hey drk -

Nice job on starting the process. It's good that you've decided not to delay any, as that is usually a tedious cycle to break. Have you ever tried to quit before or is this going to be your first time? If so, the best advice I can give you is to never let yourself down, and never feel like you have. Slipping back into the addiction cycle has a likely probability of happening, but you cannot make yourself feel like you failed because that is an extremely counterproductive feeling that will add absolutely no value to your quitting. Anyway, be sure to keep us posted, I'll be keeping you in my thoughts today :D You can do it!

How are you quitting? What was your daily dosage? Any suboxone/methadone or any other aids?

I congratulate you on the first process of living life again. Quitting drugs is the easy part, though, staying off is the real bitch. I challenge you to ask yourself "Why did I feel the need to escape?" and tackle that in order to really take back command. If you need any support just send me a PM.

^ that is really good advice, thegent. Dealing with what led to the addiction in the first place will make it so much easier to quit, deal with all the negative WDs and more importantly to stay clean. Staying clean can feel overwhelming and meaningless without intention and support to change the underlying causes of pain, boredom, anxiety, etc.

Good luck!<3

I am a long time opiate user, went to treatment centers, detoxes, done it on my own.

haha I am also very experienced with opana, used to get the yellow hexagon 40 mgs I believe?

But coming off of that was worse than coming off of any other opiate i've done, including heroin (snorted/smoked/iv), oxycontin, etc. Just wait it out. The first week is terrible but I really don't recommend the use of suboxone or other drugs that try to ween your tolerance down. I usually tend to have a harder and more unpleasant time coming off of those. Good luck and get off that shit, it's nasty

Remember, detox is a finite process with a beginning and an end. There are things in life that are much more difficult than detoxing off an opiate, like childbirth, cancer, the loss of a loved one, or homelessness. Try to keep things in perspective when you feel like you want to use. Also, the real work starts AFTER detox ends, and the physical symptoms of withdrawal subside.

Hang in there, you'll do fine. Just remember to take it one day at a time.
