My crazy new cocktail - up, down, side to side...does any of this make sense?

You take both alprazolam and zolpidem. It sounds like you're taking them on a regular basis, not short term - you're risking dependance. It would be better if you were taking alprazolam only on as-needed basis, when you start experiencing severe anxiety/panic attack. For managing anxiety I would suggest you look into cognitive behaviour therapy and mindfulness too. You can also do these types of therapy at home with self-help books and a mood diary (there's iphone and android apps too). It takes time though.
30mg of zolpidem is also a high dose, usual dose is 10-20mg. Try to reduce this if possible.
Taking both of these meds is quite possibly what aggravates your fatigue, esp. in the mornings. Adding a stimulant to this mix will only mask the problem.

It sounds like your doctor has some sort of a "chef like" approach prescribing you meds. Let's add a bit of this and that, correcting and adjusting your "brain soup"... you'll end up with overly spiced up brain. Seriously consider talking with your doctor towards working on a more conservative approach... less is better when it comes to brain.

This is word for word what my old psych said to me!

I agree with Crashing :) I laughed a lot when I read your post, and it makes a lot of sense.

While I agree your post is comical, but I don't really see anything illogical with her medications, aside from the methylphenidate. SSRI, gabaergic, opioid combinations are commonly prescribed.

Psychiatric medical practice is way less objective than other fields of medicine, it's not like knowing you have an infection an putting you on antibiotic or giving you an MRI, finding a tumor, and excising it. It's very subjective where all you have to go by is what the patient says, and how they act. So in a way it is like cooking, where you have to adjust the ingredients slightly to get the recipe right. This is why every psych patient has medications that are tailored specifically to them.

On another note, most of her medications can help the MS, the benzodiazepine can arguably aid in the spasticity and the hydrocodone the pain. This disorder really affects quality of life.

The most important thing which I always reiterate, is not to be afraid to ask your doctor questions, and demand solid and immaculate answers. If you don't get that, the least you can do is get a second opinion.

Are you still depressed? Do your SSRI's help?

And no I'm not part of the SSRI hating brigade.. Fact is.. They help millions of people.
