MXE & Tryptophan

I seem to be really confused about where posts about supplements should go...
Does anyone have experience with daily MXE & tryptophan?
This is what I ordered: *unnecessary link to L-tryptophan source... tryptophan is tryptophan*

It's not the worst contraindication in the world but I would advise that you stop taking the tryptophan in the days prior to using MXE.
There seem to be a few reports of people having bad reactions on 5-htp + MXE so I'd approach tryptophan+MXE with similar caution.
 
Are there more studies about MXE working as an SRI? Because for the longest time I heard it was a DRI but indirectly affected serotonin to an extent?

Tryptophan and 5-HTP have limited application anyway so it should not be too problematic to discontinue it.

Can't say I am too surprised this can cause problems because serotonergic drugs (at least a number of things other than partial 5-HT2a agonists) can potentially be an issue with MXE.

Yes discussion of it fits here because of the MXE which is covered under psychedelic discussion - the supplement part is not the main designator of the topic - in any case supplement discussion goes in Healthy Living, apart from Nootropic discussion which goes here and Steriod discussion which has it's own forum
 
At the time of my original post I had no experience with Tryptophan. However now I take it multiple times daily, including the days I use MXE, and noticed no bad effects.
 
The rate limiting step for synthesis of 5-ht is hydroxylation of tryptophan, and AFAIK the pathway is realtively easily saturated - taking a bolus dose of tryptophan poses no more risk for serotonin syndrome than eating a turkey sandwich does.

Taking 5-HTP is another thing entirely.

Glad to have someone confirm this, as it was what I was suspecting when I decided to buy tryptophan instead of 5htp.
