Claims of MXE's water solubility range to total to near impossible after shaking, stirring, heating, etc. Discard adulterants, and this inconsistency may stem from the fact that some MXE comes in freebase form, some in HCl.
Does anybody know if MXE HCl is actually water-soluble? What would be the ratio needed on a per gram basis?
I was told of a funny reaction that occurred when mixing 1g MXE HCl with 10ml saline water 0,9%. Some MXE went into the water while most turned into white floating fluffy clumps (first noticeable as foam). These clumps were impossible to dissolve.
What could have caused this? Perhaps it was the salt, and thus, one should ethanol-filter it to gain total dissolution?
