music from jan. 1st 1980 to dec. 31, 1989.

guns n roses - the whole appetite album! but if i really had to pick then sweet child o' mine, that opening riff makes me grin from ear to ear.
epmd - you gots to chill
slick rick - the ruler's back
metallica - for whom the bell tolls
cry little sister off the lost boys soundtrack

that's all i can think of off the top of my head, might add more later

Ugh...Tom Tom Club is an abomination. The track on Stop Making Sense, "Genius of Love", is horrible and I wish David Byrne didn't need to leave the stage to put on his big suit so they didn't need to fill the time with that schlock. If Weymouth and the drummer's whose name I am forgetting didn't already have any cred for playing in the Talking Heads I don't think any of their stuff would have been made.

"Watcha gonna do when you get out of jail?"

Punch you in the face for penning that shitty song.

Power Station
Don Henley
The Outfield
David Lee Roth
Joe Satriani- Surfing with the Alien

Looove the Outfield. =D

Josie's on a vacation far away
Come around and talk it over
So many things that I wanna say
You know I like my girls a little bit older...

More faves:
The Mighty Lemon Drops ~ inside out
Animotion ~ obsession (cheesy fun!)
The Icycle Works ~ whisper to a scream
Limahl ~ neverending story
Sly Fox ~ lets go all the way
Jane Wiedlin ~ rush hour

hip hop and metal was doing great but for the most part im not a fan, lots of cheesy stuff, lots of electronic sounds and rhythm, lots of bad sounding production, lots of music that doesnt feel organic, too much emphasis on trend and fashion thanks to mtv...

but thats my childhood so lots of cheesy radio singles with lots of nostalgia for me, from people like :

Lionel Richie, Blondie, Olivia Newton-John, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Billy Joel, Culture Club, Madonna, The Bangle...

The Bangles - Walk like an Egyptian. To my mind the best all out pop track ever. Maybe first heard on the film Mannequin starring that sex n city girl.

Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance. I'd forgot about this until it was used on an advert recently. Proper 80s.

The Gun Club - Pretty much all their songs. Discovered via Mark Riley.
The Fall. Nuff said.
Madness - Wings of a dove, Uncle Sam, Michael Caine. Heard at youth club discos as a nipper. Splendid.
The Police - Don't stand so close to me. Turned down by young love. Sob. Youth club discos again.
Kim Wilde - Kids in America. I was in love with some girl on a Coke advert.
Jean Michel Jarre - Equinoxe, Oxygene. Made me think of intergalactic space drifting.
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses. I don't even like to think about what could have been.

Best stop there.
