Yea that sounds like it would have been the ideal dose... maybe 2gs.An 1/8th is 3.5g. So half = 1.75g.

Ok so what is the difference between psilocybin and psilocybe?Fist, psilocybin is the tryptamine chemical alkaloid in the mushroom. The genus is called psilocybe, the species is azurescens,
so it would be known as Psilocybe azurescens, not psilocybin azurescens..
One large fresh shroom is a good dosage. About the same size as that of a nice size Psilocybe cyanescens.

or two to three - three inch tall sized shrooms with quarter sized caps/
Ok so what is the difference between psilocybin and psilocybe?
Also... which of these is usually in cubensis and cyanescens?

Hello!
recently purchased 2g of what were termed as 'Blue Hawaiian' shrooms. we were assured to not start with anything above 0.5g as a dose..
since buying these more people have 'signed up' for the trip and we were unable to buy more - how many people would 2g suffice at the absolute maximum?
the majority of us are rather inexperienced, having only tripped a few times before. are low dosages effective? or with hawaiians is there a small difference between recommended dose and non-active dose?
thanks in advance for any response, this site is greatly informative!

I'm sorry... what does the word "genus" in reference to shrooms mean?Fist, psilocybin is the tryptamine chemical alkaloid in the mushroom. The genus is called psilocybe, the species is azurescens,

A genus is a low-level taxonomic rank used in the classification of living and fossil organisms. The taxonomic ranks are domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. The term comes from Latin genus "descent, family, type, gender"[1] (plurals: genera), cognate with Greek: γένος - genos, "race, stock, kin"[2].
Like almost all isobar taxonomic units, genera may sometimes be divided into subgenera, singular: subgenus. The largest main taxonomic unit below the genus is the species.
How to more precisely define a genus is a matter of continuing debate, as outlined a few paragraphs below.
sounds like really good news!nanobrain said:0.3g may suffice for a full-blown visionary experience if the subjects have no tolerance.
thanks for the response, even though the above 2 posts seem to somewhat contradict each other!
anyone else like to have their input about what a minimum dose of this species would be?
sounds like really good news!

Psilocybine converts to psilocine after it is consumed in the body.
Most psilocybian mushrooms generally have several of 4-5 tryptamine alkaloids in every mushrooms however, some may have one or two or three in various degrees/ Each individual mushroom can have different amounts.
the evolution of the active alkaloids in most psilocybian mushrooms develop as follows/
baeocystine, norbaeocystine, psilocybine, and psilocine.
Also, in the genus of Incovybe, Inocybe aeruginascens was a recently discovered to produce a newly detected compound named as aeruginascine, by my colleague, Dr. Jochen Gartz of the university of Leipzig, Germany
Some cubes I found in Thailand have as yet, an unidentified tryptamine compound discovered by my Suisse colleague, Dr. Tjakko Stivje of Nestles, Vevey, Suisse.
Other tryptamines found in psilocybian mushrooms include, tryptamine, 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonine, The brains own natural neurotransmitter), tryptophan, urea, etc. and sometimes bufotonine, all not active.
Recently (in press), my Thai colleagues and I discovered a new compound in a sterile culture of Psilocybe samuiensis Guzmán, Bandala and Allen:

This is silly but, what do you major in?
Once the veil opens the mushroom stops producing psilocybin, so while the mushroom gets larger the content of psilocybin remains pretty much the same. So if you pick it when the veil breaks you are getting the best potency weight ratio in theory.
Of course there are other factors in potency, but the reason why people suggest picking when the veil breaks is because after that you are just gaining size without potency. BUT, this isn't a huge issue, if you let a bunch of mushrooms grow out and pick them, don't expect them to be weak mushrooms. But just like if you pick abhorts, you'll know that those tiny bitches are very potent, but they are tiny.
So its a balancing act, I'd personally let a few shrooms grow out, I think if nothing watching a mushroom mature is a lot of fun![]()
