Mushrooms Questions

Ok I have never taken or even seen shrooms. I just wanted to know the basics. What they look like, what you do with them (eat them that's obvious), what are the effects, how longs does it last, and what environment or toys should I be around to make the experience it's best?
And anything else anyone wants to add.

I would recommend watching cartoon movies with lots and lots of color. It's a lot of fun, and it'll keep your mind busy if you're bad trip prone like me.
