Shrooms :: First Time :: Me and My Alien
I think this is the first trip report I've ever written, so please be kind.
Some background is probably in order - I am 26 and consider myself to be fairly experienced with psychedelics. I have tried MDMA, LSD, 2ct7 and 5-meo-dipt, most of those in higher doses than a beginner would normally ingest. I was not looking to have a spiritual or highly introspective trip, I wanted to my first time to be just pure fun. I was not sure the plans I had to trip this night were going to come to fruition, so I did not differ from my normal routine. I didn't fast, or preload or anything like that, just a normal meal around 6pm.
I had been worried about what my reaction was going to be to the taste/texture of the shrooms, so I requested they be dried and ground into a fine powder. I was planning to encapsulate them, however, my plans came together at the last minute and I didn't get a chance to.
11:30pm: Divided 8g of shroom powder into three eyeball-equal piles, ~2.5g each. I mixed one pile into my drink, a can of Sunny D, the second pile was mixed into Trippies's drink, a bottle of Sunkist orange soda. The third pile was set aside for later use. Before mixing, we had each tasted a minute amount of the powder, to get an idea of what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised (after having experienced the nasty flavors that are foxy and kava, especially) to find it simply tasted a little like dry cardboard, not truly horrendous. However, the powder turned both of our orange drinks into this gloppy, thoroughly unappetizing shade somewhere between olive green and brown.
12:00am: Drank the shroom powder/orange mixture while sitting in the parking lot. Again, surprised by the not-bad taste.
12:30am: I feel perfectly fine, no hint of nausea or the creepy tingling feeling I sometimes get on the back of my neck on most psychedelic comeups. Trippies does complain of an unpleasantness in his stomach, we theorize it might be because he ate dinner later than I did.
12:45am - 2:30am: At this point we were inside the party, it was very hot, loud and smoky. I had an overwhelming desire to be anywhere but there right then, so we walked outside. The outside area was like a big yard, grass and palm trees, a path that led from the door out to a gate by the street. They also had a carnival slide set up, and were supposed to have a foam party out there later on. Walking through the grass, underneath the palm trees wrapped in Christmas lights, it suddenly kicked in. Everything looked just slightly off kilter - for example, if I looked to the right, my eyes would be there waiting and it would take a few seconds for whatever I was looking at to line up correctly. I looked at Trippies at one point, and he resembled an animation cel. He was very clear and well-defined, seeming to be painted on an out of focus background.
During this time, we just walked back and forth under the trees and down the path. It was raining, and we got soaked pretty quickly, but didn't mind in the least. It seemed everything either of us said was hysterically funny and we spent a lot of time doubled over laughing our heads off. We had a discussion about whether or not we wanted to sit down at a picnic table, turning it into the most important topic ever debated. We finally agreed to go over there at sit down, and the minute we did, we both said in unison, "this sucks!" and got up again.
I remember being very aware of how others were perceiving us. Not in a paranoid sense, but more like I felt that we were the center of attention. At some point we realized that we were the only ones still outside in the rain. We couldn't tell if it was raining hard enough that we should go in, but did anyway, to avoid looking odd in the eyes of the others.
2:30am - 3:00am: Inside in a corner of the room, there was a table set up by one of the sponsors, some new kind of energy drink called Hype. Right as Trippies was really coming up, one of the Hype guys accosted him, forcing him to try a sample of their drink. From then on, we tried to avoid anyone wearing a Hype shirt, and it started to seem like they were everywhere. Every time we saw one we would move away, only to run into another one! They mainly hung out at the door separating the inside and outside, and it was like running a gauntlet to get through them to the safe outdoors.
I got to a point where I wasn't happy anywhere. I didn't want to be inside, or outside, I didn't want to sit down or stand up or walk around ... it was strange. I wasn't mad or having a bad time, just in a mood to be doing something other than this.
3:00am - 4:00am: We ended up back outside, the Hype guys had left so we took over their spot on the balcony, leaned on the railing and people watched. We were making comments about why people were buying those inflatable aliens, "Yep, here I am, just sitting here, me and my alien."
4:00am: Decided to leave, I was pretty much not tripping anymore so it was safe to drive. When we left, we sat in my car in the parking lot for about 15 minutes, so I could look through some pics Trippies had brought. As I was flipping through them, I looked up and noticed a car backing up in front of me. It was just creeping along, moving just a little faster than stationary. It kept getting closer, so I honked my horn at it. It still kept inching closer to me, so I laid on the horn, holding it down continuously. And it still rolled backwards, until it went "THUMP" and finally stopped. They had backed into me, but I wasn't worried at all cause they were going sooo slow. The car pulled forward about 5 feet and three heads pop out from various windows. One of them yells, "Did we hit you?" Trippies and I just looked at each other incredulously, looked back at them and said? "Ummm.. YES!!!!!" They guy said "Oh." Then they drove away. As Trippies said later, "Did the fact that their car stopped not register with them? Were they thinking that that patch of air was just more dense than usual?" We laughed about that the whole way home.
4:15am: I noticed that when I looked at road signs, there would be the sign itself, and there was also a ghost copy of it, about two feet higher and slightly off to the left. Didn't affect my driving though, if it had gotten worse, I would have pulled off.
4:20am: We decide to stop at SteakNShake for drinks. I got change back from the cashier and was looking at the quarter. It said "Kentucky" and had a design of two trees, with buckets hanging from them. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what they were getting from trees in Kentucky, bourbon doesn't come from trees. I handed the quarter to Trippies and asked him what he thought they were getting, and he gave me the strangest look and said, "It's a Vermont quarter, they are getting maple syrup." Another long laugh.
4:30am: After we got back to my house, and Trippies got in his car and drove away, I was gathering up all my stuff in my car. I start hearing this booty music blaring. Mind you, this is almost 5am on Sunday morning, in a very quiet residential neighborhood. The music sounds like its getting closer, so I climb out of my car and look around. Driving along the sidewalk at the end of my street was what I first thought was a hallucination. There were two guys, on one of those 2 person, extra long bicycles. The front guy was encased in this plastic bubble, clear green on the bottom and clear on the top. He had a strobe light shining on his back, and various colors of neon and flashing lights all along the green bottom part. They had a stereo system somewhere on the bike and it was playing that Pass the Courvosier song. The second guy was in the shadows, with the first guy being all lit up the second guy looked really dark. I guess he was the pedal power for the ship. I mean, can you imagine after a night of shrooming, and literally seeing a spaceship gliding down the street???
The next day: I feel wonderful. None of that icky chemical poisoning feeling I usually get the day after taking something. I felt clean, no headache, no tiredness, no aftereffects period. I did have incredibly sore elbows, so I think we might have leaned on that railing way more then I think we did.
I definitely feel that shrooms are a "nature" drug, meant to be enjoyed outside, not at a party or inside at all. I will be trying them again soon, most likely in the woods around Gainesville.
