Mushrooms and Food

I have read and heard from a few different people about this topic, but their conclusions seemed to be unclear. What is the effect of food on the experience produced by mushrooms?

If one were to wake up at 1pm and take mushrooms at 2pm, would it be a good idea to eat first? In that case your stomach would be empty because you probably wouldn't have eaten anything in at least 12 hours. Should you have a normal meal? Should you eat something light? Should you eat nothing at all? What would be most beneficial to the overall experience?

And what about eating during the trip? Does eating during a trip decrease its effects?

Its usually advised to take mushrooms on an empty stomach, as it hits you faster. As for during the trip, I'm not too sure and haven't really tried to.

I always take mushrooms either by using the lemon tek or by making them into chocolates using an ice cube tray. The natives in Central America always drank cacao the day of the mushroom ceremonies. They were onto something, because everyone I let try the chocolates has a blast. It adds a unique euphoria to the high. Of course, you have to use high quality dark chocolate.

Don't eat for about 4 hours before.
Eating sooner than this will cause a longer, more drawn out trip (not really desirable IMO)
Possibly have ginger/black pepper/cannabis for the nausea.

If you do it all right you won't want to eat during the trip, as you'll have forgotten you have a body. However, on the comedown, I usually have a ravenous appetite (probably with a little help from Mary Jane).

interesting fact about cocoa... havent tried it, but now i might give it a shot... would love to read about that chocolate making recipe if you have a link...

as for eating and mushies...

try not to eat for a few hours before the trip. if you have nausea it will make it worse, and in any case the effects will hit you later.

during the trip, if on a light or medium dose, i always find that eating is a very pleasurable experience, especially fruit, and even better if i get to use my hands/ mouth a lot. like watermelon, oranges, grapes exploding in my mouth... i dislike anything with red meat and lots of grease (so no steak and mayonaisse sandwich for me thanks)

but these are all YMMV. so try a little bit and find out what works best for you
