After much deliberating and humming and hawwing i finally decided to do some mushrooms. I rarely have good experiences on mushrooms (I've written about this is some length), so for me to get the courage up to do so, was a bit of an ordeal. We hung out, went for a bike ride, got a bit drunk, smoked some weed, and got in a good enough mindset to endure the ride. We arrived back at the camp only to find there were at max 3 grams left of our moderately potent zoomers. I've done up to 9grams dried, so 3 grams split between two people would be a very light trip, regardless of how "awesome and potent" the dealer said these mushies were.

Now the usual problems I have with mushrooms generally just revolves around the thought confusion, and a strong bodyload. I find I'm either too nauseated to move, or I'm too confused to know whats going on, and what I should be doing. The upside is obviously the wildly intense visual stimulation, the funny thought patterns, the communal feeling with nature, and the general good times and comradery that ensues.

On a low dose of mushrooms it seemed to just completely drain away our energy, our fun, and there were almost no positive effects. We waiting an hour or so and just felt completely apathetic, slightly confused, and entirely drained of energy. It was a fight to even get the energy up to put on clothes, get ready, and witness the burning of the man. It was quite a spectacle to behold.. over 50,000 people gathered together, with hundreds upon hundreds of fire dancers all dancing in rhythm. Every art car was there with a mass of crazy neon music, each speaker system trying to outmuscle its neighbour. It was utter chaos, with fireworks, explosions, massive fireballs, and every sort of person dressed in every sort of attire. This evening seemed like some sort of twisted carnival gone crazy, with the 30 foot tall man burning and a party like none other.

It seemed strange though, almost polluted. There were a significant amount more people, many of which only came for 1-2 days for the party, so the spirit of it all seemed a little cheaper, a bit more corrupt, and definitely darker. The slight confusion and body load didn't help either, and the whole place didn't have a good feel to it. Instead of going out to party hard we went back to camp to decide our next course of action.

Once back at the camp i realized that I had came across a bag of K in my previous travels, so a sniff or two seemed in order.

I had done some K in my time, but what i was railing seemed to be something else entirely. Apparently there are different types and potencies of this marvelous substance and what this stuff was unlike anything i had encountered. I was immediately thrown into a pseudo-psychadelic topsy turvy dissociated state. The drip down the back of my throat tasted just as harsh and slightly chemically as usual so I knew I was infact smelling the right stuff. But after doing a couple of fairly small bumps I was in another world altogether. I was hanging with about 8 people and we were all in various degrees of inebriation, but we all noticed the impressive potency of this stuff.

I eventually just gave into the K and let myself wander into whatever headspace it wanted to throw me. I spent some time gazing pleasantly at the stars... letting them spin and dance before me. They were swirling in intricate patters, and moving around my head making me laugh and smile..... it was at that point I realized that I was still inside the dome.... which made my reality snap back into some degree of focus. My eyes realigned with my brain and I found myself back in the tent. I felt a little tired and fairly dizzy and closed my eyes to try and drift off to sleep. This threw me yet another curveball as my equilibrium decided to leave my body entirely. I thought i was upside down and was going to slide sideways off the face of the ground (for reals!). I tried to pull myself back to some state of normalcy but this was in vain. I found myself spinning around in the stars again, (I remembered I was in my tent this time ) and trying to stop the spinning in my closed eye visions.

All of a sudden a spacedog on a rocketship appeared. It was like out of a cartoon, but strangely enough was appearing before my eyes... despite them being closed. A dog, wearing a space helmet, riding a rocket sled, was telling me to follow him through the stars. I shrugged, I wasn't up to much else, so I figured we would give it a go. He was quite a good guide, and I snickered at the ridiculousness going on before me. I knew I was high as balls, and knew this was a figment of my imagination, but the dissociated reality felt real enough for me to just continue travelling the galaxies with my canine friend. The stars, planets, and intricate swirls going on before me were awe inspiring despite my knowledge of their lack of physical substance. I was overwhelmed with the visions going on, the complexity and realness were far beyond anything I had encountered on K before.

I must have been lying down giggling to myself for a good half hour before waves of nausea overcame me. I said goodbye to my new space friend, opened my eyes, and stumbled outside to puke hard.

Apparently a few hours had gone by and it was now 3am... I decided that I had enough absurdity for the day, and needed to save my strength to party properly the next day.

This is my trip report #2 from burning man... #3 is en route.
