Hey, my mushrooms have been colonizing for around a month now but the bag is still maybe 3/8ths un-colonized. Were I live is very cold and I am pretty poor so we cant afford to have the heating on all the time. A friend of mine said he rgew shrooms in simailair conditions and they worked fine although they took a lot longer to colonize. I owe this friend some money so I dont wana ask him specifecs till I have that sorted haha, so is it a worry that it has been so long? I hadn't mixed up the bag in a while and it was quite stuck together so I did that today and hopefully they will go a bit quicker. I have a blanket over them and a towel underneath them, there is visible drops of condensation under the bag. Any help or info? I know ive posted a lot about this shit and it always gets moved to the megathread but no one replies in there, so if you could leave itout for a day or two that would be great. Btw its a mycofarm grow bag with ecudiaroan strain.

I dont have a heating pad are they seriously dirt cheap? I mean im struggling with money like fuck nowadays man, even if they will take a while i dont mind, just will they be fine in the end?

2 things that may help.

1. crush the rye clumps (I assume it is rye you are using on a mushbag...). If it is partially colonized, make sure you get a lot of free space between the grains. My first try failed because I was afraid to mess with the bag.. Do not be too rough, but apply some finger pressure until the bigger clumps desegregate

2. You do not need a heating pad. if you have an old PC, just turn it on and put the mushbag right beneath it. You do not need a screen either. If you don't have that , you have lots of things in your home that produce heat, even cell phone chargers produce a lot of heat. Another cheap source is an incandescent light. be sure to envelope it first within a no inflamable box, because light is not good for colonization. Then get a carboard box, and put that heat source and the mushbag inside. If you have a thermometer check it stays about 28C That's a good temperature for ecuadores.

And by the way, why don't you check mycotopia or the shroomery? they are very helpful once you get to know how that forum works

Good luck

Okay, Ive got a pc that I use daily I could put it behind if I made a setup for it so it would be safe and in the right conditions. I did exacly how you described breaking up the grain so im hoping colonization will go a lot quicker soon. Temperature shouldn't be way way off

Great! Wait 2 more days until the mycelium recovers from the change in conditions, and in 3 days you will definitely see differences in the colonization. Do let us know how it goes.

SO is it crucial to put it behind the pc? Cuse thats extra hassle, will everythng be ok if i leave it in the cupboard

that depends on the temperature of the cupboard. 28ºC is the best and growth is slower at lower temperatures. Also the risks for contamination may also increase...
