Multivitamins for Preloading

Multi-vitamins are typically horrible, no matter what. Your body really doesn't need all those chemical, you're forcing your liver to do a LOT more work than it needs to.

Unless you're a pregnant woman, you can get ample levels of all of those nutrients from simple, healthy foods.

Avoid Vitamin C before you plan to roll as it will lessen the effects. Be sure to take it afterwards though, and other antioxidants too.

I have always taken a heavy dose of vitamin c a couple hours before rolling and never had it affect my roll negatively. I believe it also inhibits an enzyme in your body that is responsible for the breakdown of MDMA so taking vitamin c would help prolong the roll. I have noticed that taking a multivitamin the day I roll does seem to have a negative effect on the strength of the roll though, I never take multivitamins on drop day anymore, but I do take them every other day, its hard to get 100% of all the vitamins you need from food alone everyday.

Surely there should be a sticky about post/pre-loading?

The same website sells 50mg 5-HTP pills and 250mg magnesium pills.
Any ideas what the best time to dose these is to reduce negative effects (particularly bruxism/nystagmus)?

I'd drop 2 of the magnesium pills 1-2 hours before rolling & then the 5-HTP while coming down/immediately post MDMA.

No idea where this bullshit about stressing the liver has come from. Multivitamins are fine, but you can achieve the exact same from a balanced, healthy diet. If, however, you do not eat a diet that is fully enriched with the vitamins & minerals you require, a multi-vitamin may be very beneficial to you. I usually take them when I know my diet is not sufficient (often due to over-working for deadlines etc etc), then avoid them when I'm eating better.

I always take one immediately after MDMA particularly for the anti-oxidant properties of Vit C & also the aiding of serotonin replenishment of Vit B3.

Wouldnt you want to wait until you are completely down from your roll to take the 5-htp to minimize the slight possibility of Serotonin Syndrome?

^ Has there ever been a case of SS caused by 5-htp and MDMA?

5-htp is literally a supplement.. Its the step inbetween tryptophan (found in bananas, turkey, etc) and 5-ht (serotonin)..

it's strange how many people swear by vitamin c downing their ecstasy experience

however i remember drinking hot lemon honey drinks before rolling (i had a cold, which went after the rave lol ) and i had a fucking blinder of a night

I've had this discussion before and i'm confident that 5-HTP will not cause SS with MDMA. Firstly, 5-HTP takes a few hours to completely metabolize of which the MDMA-induced serotonin will be less. Secondly, 5-HTP does not, at least to my knowledge, act on any of the serotonergic pathways of release. Thus, quite simply taking 5-HTP won't cause serotonin to be released into the synapse. SS occurs as a result of an extreme and severe excessive amount serotonin residing in the synapse. Thirdly, if 5-HTP & MDMA could cause SS, then consuming a diet extremely rich in L-Tryptophan, immediately before ingesting MDMA, would also be dangerous - right!? like Rickolas pointed out: L-Tryptophan - 5-HTP - Serotonin. It is a natural building block in the pathways of Serotonin production - NOT a serotonin releasing agent (Like MDMA). I see the rationale that increased 5-HTP = Serotonin available = More serotonin released as a result of MDMA = Increased risk of SS. However, if this truely was a risk worth discussing, then eating foods high in L-tryptophan, while rolling, would also be dangerous due to the natural conversion into serotonin, via the pathway mentioned, then released into the synapse.

Long story short: I think its a myth thrown around without any true scientific underpinning to back it up. In reality, the risk of SS is so small I don't even know why people bring it up. We might as well start worrying about the ridiculously small chance of spontaneously combusting at any point in our life as well.

Just eat something with those vitamins in it (not the actual multi-vitamins) or eat some kind of pre-meal. You're messing with your brain chemistry, that'll probably just off-balance it more if you take a shit ton of vitamins before you roll.
