Amp was a music video program on MTV that aired from 1997 to 2001. It was aimed at the techno and rave crowd and was responsible for exposing many electronica acts to the mainstream. When creator Todd Mueller left the show in 1998, it was redubbed Amp 2.0. The show aired some 46 episodes in total over its 6-year run. Amp's time slot was moved around quite a bit, but the show usually aired in the early morning hours on the weekend.

found a grip of shows uploaded to youtube. easily the best program to come from MTV. no doubt it influenced thousands of people (including me) to join the party. ;)

here is one episode with one of my favorite songs ever (WE - 3/10ths of the Population)

Amp 1 and 2 were some of the foundations of my electronic music collection.

Awww man, you just brought back some great memories. Thank you for this thread! :)

This show was syndicated on Much Music (Canadian version of MTV) and some of my earliest influences in electronic music were shown to me by AMP when I was 16-17. They released a CD every year as well I believe (amp squared?) and I remember it used to be on heavy rotation at my mom's place.

I remember one night when we caught AMP in my basement around 2am, while 3 of us were tripping on mushrooms. We thought that show aired specifically for us, as we couldn't believe something so appropriately trippy would be airing at the exact moment we needed it.

Again, great thread.
