Hello Bluelighters, i'm relatively new to the site, (Been lurking for years) but I have a question. Due to my recent and painful surgery for severe Scoliosis, I've been blessed with all kinds of Opioids. BUT, when I ran out and was still in pain, I would ask my uncle for some weaker Norco 7.5's. When I was at my worst today, he offered me Morphine 15 (MS Contin) which I accepted. I've only done Morphine in hospitals, and thrown up from them and the anesthetics.

Will this 15mg Morphine pill accompany the nausea like IV administration? I know that it only has like a 30% bio-availability when taken orally, and 10% insufflated. I have a "low" opiate tolerance. (20mg Hydrocodone will take the pain away and give me a decent buzz) And i'm at 118 Lbs. Normally I'll smoke Cannabis in case of nausea which I might do. So what do you guys think? Will the little blue pill produce any effects like euphoria or nausea, or just take the pain away?

Thanks all.

-Brian

Orally, hydrocodone and morphine are roughly mg:mg on par for analgesia and euphoric effects. Starting at 15mg crushed up to be conservative and account for incomplete cross-tolerance would be appropriate. You may find 15 sufficient but many find oral morphine slightly weaker than oral hydrocodone so you may find you require slightly more for equivalent effects.

The official BA numbers show plugging to be on par with oral but anecdotally, many here clearly prefer this route. This could be simply due to the speed of onset or perhaps the published BA numbers are inaccurate.

Chitosan used with morphine can greatly increase the intranasal bioavailability but you're still better off pursuing oral or rectal administration.

If you took enough of the morphine orally or rectally, you'll probably get the nausea but given the disparity in potency and speed of onset, it is much less likely than when used intravenously but keep in mind it's still possible.

What meds did the doctor prescribe you after the surgery? Just wondering because my doctor recommended a possible surgery for my scoliosis.
