Hello Everyone,
I am moving to Seattle at the end of April. I've been on MM for about 10 years, but just started my taper within the last few months moving down from 140mg to 100mg by 5mg every 2 weeks, I'm taking it very slow.
I have a great clinic where I currently live. They treat you with respect and like a human being. They have a nice waiting room that is well lit and in a descent part of Dallas. And there is rarely any drama there. In the 10 years that I've been going there I've had 2 dirty tests and the most recent was over 2 years ago. I get 2 weeks of carries. My clinic is going to give me a months worth of doses to help me get on my feet in Seattle. But I'm not looking forward to having to go in every day again. I understand that it is going to be part of the process but I was hoping that if I provide all the records from my current clinic showing that I'm a model patient that I might be able to get started on take homes more quickly than a completely new patient.
I've done some research into Seattle clinics and have spoken with the Evergreen people about their intake process and what they need from my current clinic to get me started. But they seem to have a process that they stick to 100% and won't alter it for any reason.
Are there any Seattleites out there that will give me the skinny on their clinics and tell me in general, how are you treated? I've heard horror stories about clinics in other cities with armed off duty cops that keep everyone lined up outside the place and generally treat you like dirt.
The Evergreen clinics seem to have the slickest advertising and they were pleasant on the phone, but I'd like to hear from those of you in the trenches.
I would also love to hear any advice on areas to look at getting an apartment that would make having to hit the clinic every morning more convenient. As of now, I plan to live either in downtown Seattle, or as near as possible to it, or maybe Bellevue, but I'm very open as I'm going to be working from home.
I would really appreciate any advice on this. I know it's a lot to ask. Truthfully this is just another driving force for me to get off of this stuff, I don't like having to plan my move around my addiction.
Thank you in advance,
J.
