What do other poddies think about that dry mold that has grown on the surface of some of them ? Until recently I'd just thought "fuck it" and ground down and consumed the mouldy bits too. But I read some scare stories the other day that it can be dangerous, particularly any mould that's on the inside of them, and that you should never consume those ones..

I've just cracked open my first mouldy inside pod so am discarding it, and also one that is 100% covered in mould like a huge birth mark on one half on the outside so I've just chucked that part too. Otherwise, for pods with up to about 30 % surface mould I've ground down and consumed regardlessly, and I'm still alive and not been taken ill.

Just to clarify this type of mould is black, dried, apparently "dead" mould, not living green stuff, which I would obviously not be consuming.

Is it even mould atall though, could it just be discoloration, or just like some kind of birth mark ?

Smetimes poppy pods will have brown/black discoloration from bruising, or dried on opium.

If the mould is green, blue, white, sticky wet, or "fuzzy", don't consume it. If it's black and dried out then it is probably an opium stain.
