Haha, from what i gather he had some balls to dress in the way he did in that area. All gothed up with make up and all iirc. The whole of the 5 minutes i spent there was enough to realise that the place was very hostile to anyone at all 'different' in any way.
Did you ever watch Benefits Street? St James Turner Street has nothing on Openshawe. And Miles Platting is even worse than Openshawe. The so called "notorious" Moss Side feels like a middle class gentrified utopia in comparison. In fact it was once the place where the rich residents of Manchester lived. I think it became notorious as part of the Gunchester happenings in the 80s with the Gooch Close gang and all that. Gooch Close is now a quiet and peacefull housing estate that feels quite safe and un-threataning, at least during the day time.
