News More drugs overdoses are happening inside public libraries across Canada

Damn that kinda tracks -- but aren't libraries federal buildings with higher consequence for being busted at in Canada? (Excuse my ignorance) In the US I think I library makes it federal(?) and noone wants to play with that dragon!

Totally makes sense. Libraries have been de facto day shelters for the homeless for ages. Temperature regulated facility open to the public with bathrooms, internet and reading material all for free. free. I used to like going to these places myself until they became de facto day shelters.

cant say I am unfamilliar with shit going down there but there was always an extra layer of caution. The dewey decimal system once saved me from being arrested hypothetically (There a statute on fed crimes, I still fear telling that story though it is a good one)

I used to love going to libraries too. I could just sit in there and chill for a few hours, reading stuff, and enjoying the time I spend there.

These days I am not sure about my safety. I was recently offered a small bag of what appeared to be a brownish powder, I basically told them that no, I was not interested in touching anything that didn't come from a prescription.

Ohh you totally missed out on some fentanyl and nitazenes most likely; coulda joined the OD in library group real quick --- good move. Selling to a stranger at the library is almost "is this a sting?" ballsy where I live but I know that ish varies.

We have a really nice library I truly enjoy as a library. Ok the computer usage policies are kind of weird/extensive but w/e that aint usually why im there. Unless I gotta print lol
