MOON Grow Calendar

it's got nothing to do with that virgo/capricorn crap. it about the times when the moon has more/less gravitational pull on the earth. why do people hafta try and make it some crap about constelations and my birthday. let's call miss cleo for some gardening advice while we're at it. =D

I'm sure plants are influenced by the moon in a certain way, but how are you deducing your information? For all I know you could be anti-marijuana with some actual scientific knowledge in this area, purposely trying to lower our yields :p

i can understand the moon being a constant to determine what time it is, and therefore what time is best to grow, but are you suggesting that there is some magical proporty of the moon that can affect how plants grow that depends on where it is in relation to various constelations?

I have literature on this exact subject and Yes the moon can have an effect on how plants grow depending on the gravitational pull.they use more water and or nutrient when theres a full moon and therefore they grow bigger if looked after properly at these times....!i dont think its majic but it definately is gravity ...!!!!!

il dig around and try andfind some literature on this subject stagnant....i dont think planting in the rite star sign etc has anything to do with it...but the moon definatly does play a part and can be used to your advantage when your about to pull etc(i.e try and do after a full moon)

as much as i believe that the moon can be useful to growers,i think your site is shit moonpower!!!!and i think this thread is border line on spam...!!!and it doesnt even seem like you really no very much about how the moon actually can be used to help people grow and rather you believe that zodiac signs have something to do with it....!!!if you have any research papers to prove your theory it would be appreciated if you could post some links....!!!

It doesn't make a difference, sorry.

actually it there is evidence that it does.....

'The Moon affects plant growth through its pull on water. Plants contain a huge percentage of water in their make up, and they respond to the tidal pulls of the Moon.'

http://goddess.astrology.com/moon/gardening.html

and i tend to agree with the above statement because i have noticed many times that plants tend to drink alot more when there is a full moon and the gravitational pull is strongest!

Tidal effects are miniscule man. Can you tell by looking at a swimming pool where the moon is? No, you need an entire ocean to do it. Even then, it only pulls the water a few meters inland when the oceans are Millions of metres wide themselves! Of course oceans are deep too so really far less than a millionth is being displaced. More like a millionth of a millionth of a millionth. It's a really minute effect which is lost in comparision to far greater effects such as whether or not there's an extra drop of water being fed to them today, if the air is 1% less humid (air pulls water through the plant), etc. All these other variables have effects many orders of magnitude higher than the effect of the moon's gravity on a plant.

Unless you make the argument that mystical forcers are at play then I'm not going to argue with you (that's your belief). But from a scientific standpoint, the moon has no appreciable effect on growth.

I'll just add that the gravitational pull of the moon is equal at all times (it doesn't change mass) but it's direction may change. It's direction will be towards wherever the moon is in the sky, ie, it doesn't depend on how much of the moon you can see (wherther the moon is full or not), the moon is always there. It's where it is in the sky that counts. But bear in mind that 24 hours later the moon will be on the opposite side so it's miniscule effects are cancelled out then anyway.

no i make NO argument about "mystical forces' i just clearly state the facts that ive read and clearly state that gravitational force is REAL!!!as you yourself have just admitted!!!!!

even if as you say it is miniscule(spell?) etc, it is still there and it is REAL!!!!!

do you have any links or papers to ack up what you are saying????because I am very interested!!!!!

theres nothing magical about it, the moons gravity affects many things on the planet, and i dont see how it woudnt affect the way plants grow on earth as well.

I'm not denying that the moon's gravity is real. What I am saying is that ir is so tiny that it's lost in the background noise of the millions of other vaiables which would affect the growth of a plant.

What do you need sources for?

If you look at gravity, it's an inverse square law.

F = (G*m1*m2)/d^2

This means that distance is very important

lets have a look at the moon 's impact on a small plant (0.2kg):

F = (6.667×10^-11 NM^2Kg^-2*7.3477×10^22 kg*0.2Kg)/(3.75×10^8 M)^2

= 7x10^-6 N (a tiny tiny amount - forces *far* greater than this include, opening and closing a door near the plants etc)

now lets have a look at the impact of a grotesquely fat man sitting 1cm from the plants; (same again but replace the moon's weight and distance with the fat man's)

(6.667×10^-11 NM^2Kg^-2*2.5×10^2 kg*0.2Kg)/(1×10^-2 M)^2

= 3.3×10^-5 N

Oh noes, look at what we have here, the gravitational force of an extremely fat man in close proximity to your plants is nearly 5 times bigger than the moon's!

My point is not that gluttonous men can be used to help grow plants wink wink

That is way to many numbers for anyone on cannabis discussion boards to decipher
