Hey, last friday i really hurt my knee and went to an ER... they gave me a referral to see my doc. this doctor has seen me only 3 times before and didn't hesitate to give me a script of 60 x 5mg oxycontin's

my question is that when he was doing the script he made a brief phone call to authorize the script. and then when i wenrt to the chemist they gave me the whole 3 boxes.

So why did my doctor have to make a call to prescribe oxycodone?

^hey thanks.

I assumed the gp was on the phone to the PBS getting the script authorised?

I plan on seeing my regular GP on monday as i couldn't see him when i did my knee.... will he be ablbe to see that i've been prescribed a month supply of oxycontin?

I was given 20 Endone before and there was no phone call authorisation... thats S9. I just don't want to get into trouble, but the dose isn't sufficient and i would like more oxycontin until i get my MRI scan.

If i ask my regular doc for something different to oxycontin i think it would look fine... any suggestions?

^ Meth is still actually Schedule 8 here isn't it, I thought?

Damn, I wish I had my old computer... I had so much cool stuff on there, like a complete listing of scheduled substances in Australia. Possibly outdated now though...

Endone is oxycodone - it's an S8 substance, S9 is all CONTROLLED ILLICIT poisons and chemicals (eg; meth, heroin, cocaine, mdma, weed etc)

yeah i knew that, but didn't know the difference between schedule 8 and 9

Seeing as my 60 x 5mg oxycontin is schedule 8, why would my gp need to make a call to authorise it? and if i got a similar schedule 8 script from another doctor(who i've know all my life), would he realise the previous script i got a few days ago and get angry for not telling him in the process? i thought there was a certain level of discretion there, if anyone could clarify this for me i'd be much appreciated, as i see him tomorrow

the reason i'm asking is because i'm in a lot of pain and i don't want to do anything wrong by my doctor, but at the same time i want him to manage my pain.

The other doctor was just someone i had to see for an emergancy... i want my local gp to manage my pain, but don't want him to know about my script i got

You're effectively doctor shopping which is not in your best interests and will not be supported by this site. What is in your best interest is you being honest with your current doctor, telling him about the script you just received and discuss your pain management options. If you get caught out, which you will eventually, you will be blacklisted as a patient with drug seeking behaviour. This will destroy the relationship you have with your 'life long' doctor and could jeopardise any future effective pain management options.

This thread has now served it's purpose as it appears you're simply seeking tips to circumvent the system of which will not be provided in AusDD.

If you would like to discuss this further then feel free to PM one of the mods. :)
