Mold in bong...

As a favor to a friend, I promised him I would get some mold out of a bong he was mistreating. I've tried 93% ISO with salt and hot water. I need advice on how to save this piece, since none of the above seem to be working. Could it be my technique? Should I let it soak? Any alternatives? (is it true that vinegar works?)
 
there is mold on the piece? weird. i would think soaking it in alcohol or something stronger like bleach would do the job
 
when you put the salt and iso in it shake it vigorously rinse with hot water and repeat until it is clean that should work just soaking it doesnt cut it
 
The bong is glass. I've soaked it in the ISO, shaken the ISO and salt, shaken it with hot water, mixed 1 part water and 1 part ISO and salt and shook...

I mean, this mold is so bad, so old, I'm sad to say that I'm worried it's beyond hope. That's why I'm asking.
 
sounds like somebody needs a new piece...

try coarse salt (like Epsom salt) and the Alcohol with the hot water again.

if all else fails, soak in Acetone or MEK (Methyl Ether Ketone) for 20-40 minutes, then rinse with Iso. Alcohol and salt, being sure to shake vigorously.
 
Hot water or alcohol and sand then shake like you've never shaken before!! Or one of those dish washer thingymabobs that are like a long wire thing with bunch of hard bristles at the end (look kinda like a dunny cleaner) or maybe just fork out for a new bong.
 
take a tab youd put into a dishwasher, put it into your bong, fill up with hot water and wait 24 hours. then flush again with hot water. that should be enough.
 
Yeh, i would try heating the ISO up first, then adding salt and shaking. (heat it in the microwave, just put it in for 5 seconds at a time, alcohols boiling point is pretty low), if that doesnt work, soak it in some Cascade for 24 hours. AND, if that doesnt work, use Grunge Off Super Soaker, that shit is amazing. Barely any shaking needs to be done, and you can re-use the solution. Just dont try to dilute it with water, because then it wont work anymore.
 
OR try some Oxyclean or CLR, but if there is a label, be careful because those will remove the label. but they both definetly work for resin, calcium, mold and probably anything else that can make a tube disgusting.
 
Oxyclean is by far the best cleaner I have ever found for organic messes. I use it to clean my beer making supplies. A 6 hour soak in warm water with a scoop of oxyclean has always cleaned any glass or platic material I needed it to. You don't need to scrub or anything it will all just float to the surface. I have cleaned beer bottles that were full of mold, probably was growing for 10 years. I have no idea if it works on resin, but it will solve your mold issue.
 
just thought of something else i use from time to time..simple green! just mix it with a little water.
 
God damnit, knew I shouldn't have read this thread! Ok so... how am I goinna tell if I have mold in my bong?!?! I don't clean it and rarely change water and there is chunks of resin on the inside of the bong, IS IT MOLD?! Shit..
